Now I've always loved owls, not real life ones just the owl image on necklaces, shirts, etc. But anyways I had not heard of the Owl superstition until yesterday. I was with a friend earlier in the day and we saw several different styled owl Christmas tree ornaments. I said I was going to buy one when we put our tree up, my friend then asked me "Don't you know Owls are bad luck and seeing one is a bad omen" I had never heard of this before but never gave it a 2nd thought until later that night in a totally unrelated manner, my sister tells me that an OWL flew right over her head and that she was told by her friend that it was bad luck and a bad omen. And I just thought that was weird that earlier I had heard that also. Anyways we ended up trying to do some research on owl superstitions and turns out a lot of people have their owl/bad omen stories.

Now I'm not really superstitious much but TODAY my sister just called me and said at lunch she witnessed a 5 car pile up accident where 1 of the cars flipped over on the sidewalk and one of the tires flew off hitting an elderly lady. I don't know if she's okay as I just literally heard about this from my sis. My sister is fine but she said it had literally happened right in front of her. And it happened right near a school where she knew some of the drivers involved in the accident. Now maybe this is all just pure coincidence and we are reading too much into this but I thought I'd share anyhow. I don't know if I am just high but I was a little freaked out hearing all this lol I do know my sister is now a true believer

So just wanted to share. Does anyone believe in superstitions? Or anyone know any thing else about this owl superstition? Ive also heard of the black dog superstition. I don't necessarily believe in all of this but it is still all very interesting. and freaky at times haha

Owls are very cool birds, I have never heard of that particular bit of superstition. Though I've always thought Spiders to be a good omen and most like them less than Owls.

If the owl was a bad omen your sister would have been involved in the accident. Your sister had the good luck to just be a witness of the accident.

:cool:The "Owl Superstition" comes from the Native American Belief that an Owl is a harbinger of Death. Thus, one who sees the "Death Bird" will die; or know someone who dies soon after. I know this because my wife ' Mrs.olbill ', is 1/2 Native American.:family:

The owl is an ancient occult symbol, used by none other than the Illuminati. It is also used as a logo for the Bohemian Club, where the elite gather once a year in the Redwood Forest in California.

There is also small owl in the top right of a dollar bill, weirdly so. Owls are every where if you look for them.

I've never heard of the owl superstition, but I have heard of the crow one, that if crows gather around your house then you or somone you know will soon die. Also black cats that cross your path, my grandfather used to turn the car around if he saw one cross the road ahead lol. But i'm not really superstitious.
