Jesus it feels like I haven’t been here in a million years lol

I’m easing my way back into my reality. 5 weeks in the arid mountains gave me lots of time to unwind from all the usual stresses and ups ‘n downs of my routine day to day. So I’m not rushing it….I so enjoying the weather, the rain, the coolness, the bliss of sleeping with comfie covers again….let’s just say I’m chilled as fuck and lovin it :p

Anyway I digress….got a present of an oz of hash this morning, yeah yeah I know I said I was on a break …gift horses an all dat …so bear with me

This is a movie that when I first heard about it I was so dying for it’s release. The actor is a guy I’ve followed for years…initially a teenage street musician…indie frontman of an awesome group…and an actor so believable and unpretentious you cudn’t not love him even if ginger hair and freckles aren't your thing.

Glen Hansard of The Frames with the lovely Marketa Irglova in the movie ‘Once’

    And guess what ?
I totally fucking forgot about it  Now I have to wait for the dvd realease.

    Shit happens huh.

Nalu reminded me in chat yesterday when he told me it was just opening in Hawaii. We’d talked about this before…because the soundtrack is amazing.

Anyway the movies had rave reviews…it’s low budget but so real and heartfelt…
Don’t be put off that it’s a musical, this is not a musical in the old Hollywood way. This is the story of a Dublin street musician who falls in love…Here's some tracks not movie clips, live performances. Enjoy x

    The movie "Once" ....
I saw this yesterday in Hawaii..in a small theater and was surprised by how many attended..
The charmed and talented musician actor Glen Hansard brings the film to life... I loved how they filmed the music live on location.....and not in your typical stage or studio setting lipping the tune.., but in unexpected places which i thought was brilliantly done....The scenes of Dublin and its surroundings is beautiful...makes you wanna go!.....The film captures Glens performances making him a true talented actor musician...

I tried not to get too critical on the camera mans work, like looking for shadows of the crew or reflections of them in windows, smooth moves.no shakes.....etc...but i took it
as a film of jounalistic approach....the camera had a lot of hand held shots giving the film a more personal touch..which i loved alot...the locations and its lighting will stun you and have you asking Lulu more information on the films locations...

for those who need that inspriation to get your arse moving into this life...this film has it...If your a musician...you will feel it even more to give you that push to write more music...or perform in the streets or even record your tune..

i recommend going stoned...not expecting a Hollywood type venue//but like being in Ireland on the streets listening to good music next to Glen Hansard...

This film has it all...action...happiness...sadness...humor..which makes Hollywood forget that there is realism that people want to see......

tokes...im not a good critic...and any indy film that gets printed..is a success to me....

    aloha!!

I soo can’t wait to see this now!!!!!

Delighted you enjoyed it Nalu. I have no idea of any locations other than Grafton Street (I’ll know more after I see it myself) and I read some of the scenes were shot in Glen’s flat.

Grafton Street is such an amazing place…typical Dublin at it’s very best. I found this on youtube…walking from Stephen’s Green end – where that glass roofed shopping centre is and the Quiet Mind sculpture by Orla deBri – towards Trinity College, College Green (where they house The Book of Kells). I think it captures the atmosphere really well.

In the previous vid you may have caught a clip of slide guitar, here’s the guy.
