New to Vaporizers looking for tips please, mum has terminal cancer

Hi I've just joined Stoner Forums as I thought it would be a good place to get tips regarding vaporizers.

I have just bought a Extreme Q after reading some good reviews re this product. It can do the bag or whip method.

My mother has terminal cancer and I want her to have this at her side for anytime she wants it. She's never been a pot smoker but I think it can offer a bit of pain relief and distraction for her at this point in her illness. I've also heard of patients going into remission after taking up pot but am under no illusion about the probability of miracles at this stage.

Also, I'm a smoker who has recently become a keen surfer and want to give up the smoking but not the benefits of weed to better my surfing experience. So I will certainly be having a go on it too!

I would like to get the dose for this particular unit sorted rather than going through lots of buds sorting it out for myself.

Does anyone have this model who would like to share their experiences regarding ideal temp and dose (grams) to roughly equate to a hit from a regular bong (is this how it works?) Usual supply avail is mostly fresh high quality hydro, don't know the strains.

I don't want to take it over my mum's house crank it up and give her a less than ideal experience, I want to get it just right so that she takes to it and has something to look forward to in her days.

sorry i don't have the vape answers for you... I do have knowledge of a cannabis product that should give both you and your mother hope for a miracle cure. the big question there is do you live in a med legal state? that would make acquiring the quantity of herb needed much easier. if not... maybe some family or friends do? regardless... go to Phoenix Tears and start reading up on rick simpsons healing hemp oil. your vape will ease her pain so bless you for providing that. the oil may very well save her life.

Thanks for the quick reply, I live in Sydney, Australia, unfortunately here small amounts are decriminalised but getting big quantities would be expensive and risky.

I will certainly check out the link re the oil, even advice or information maybe beneficial at this stage.

Wow, I read the article on producing your own oil, sounds like an expensive science experiment if I get it wrong! I might even blow the house up!

I assume there are additional benefits / less side effects to using the oil as opposed to using the vaporiser, otherwise Rick wouldn't go to the trouble of doing it. I must admit though that the latter option being far more practical for my situation.

I don't look at the cost as an issue considering what is at stake, but I am concerned that the process could go pear shaped if not executed to the letter. I really need to study the article thoroughly before considering to attempt it!

At a guess I think the raw material would set us back around 2.5 - 3k AU, mmm, how to explain that to the good wife! Our budget has already taken some big blows in recent times and she doesn't really agree with weed!

I have an Extreme Q and have good results with Temp at 190 - 195 C .... but adjust +- 10 degrees depending on what works best.

I load the glass bowl about 25%, i.e. about halfway between bottom screen and the black silicon finger protector (around top of bowl).
