I have to say i am very unhappy with my commander and chief. I was very put off by his snickering to the marijuana reform laws. As a soldier that fights for freedom, i feel that we are not free. Other countries have a freedom we do not. How can you so blatantly roll such an issue off. Millions of people have been arrested for non violent crimes. At the same time, wife beaters, rapists, murderers, tax dodgers, and a multitude of criminals are given lesser sentences. These are people we fear. Who should fear a marijuana smoker. Marijuana offenders crowd our prisons, making it harder to put away real criminals. If this government was not to enslave marijuana offenders, we would save billions in revenue. They pay taxes, they do work, and they contribute to society. Stereotypes hurt us all. Why stereotype a good group of people as evil. Im just upset sir. I am not a smoker. I have a Secret clearance, and have no desire to loss it. I just feel you are not taking these people serious. They are good people, with great hearts. I do believe though, that if you drive under the influence of any drug, you should be held liable. If you a detriment to society, you should be held liable, but if you sit in your living room, smoke a bowl, go to bed, and wake up to go to work, and contribute to our great country, you are not an evil person. I feel you are just an American. Give adults the freedom to make a choice. America i founded on these ideals. Flat line is, marijuana is not nearly as bad as caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, and a multitude of over the counter drugs. If you allow prohibition of one, well do away with all the rest. We both know that will never happen, so do the fair, the right thing, and really think about it. I know you say it is not the answer to a failing economy, but it cant hurt it either. It would help. Take the time and just think about it for me, an American, and an American who has been to war.

great letter very true outta curiosity do you smoke just cause well its stonerforums...not groverment reform forums... lol if not nothing against you i have friends who dont smoke and dislike weed but we put that shit aside cause were friends and its just a plant between us so...
i agree with you its retarded that drugs like alcohol and tabacco go unchecked and actually benifit this government for years!!! and our country was found on marijuana and hemp... it was one of our largest exports when america was founded... george washington grew fields of it...
and nationwide legalization would drastically help us make an economic turn around for many reasons...
non-violent marijuana offenders are freed from prison system...=no more unecessary tax money spent on that...
less violent crimes from dealers/growers...=hundreds of thousands of new jobs in the hypothetic marijauna industry we could create it be so much bigger than tobacco and in my personal opinion should be replacing tabacco products as they are the real danger to this countries health and others...
the ability to regulate and tax marijuana at a reasonable price...billions maybe trillions a year in revenue...
and look at holland they dont prosecute soft drug offenders and have so many less violent crimes and issues with hard drugs...
new eductional videos of the reality of marijuana and its uses not just demonizing it but the truth none of this reefer madness bullshit...
this country should be fighting a war on obesity not weed...they can call it the war on drugs but really...our government needs to disembark from thoughts of war of any kind...as it was our country that created and developed most of the drugs they are fighting... cocaine, herion, pcp, and lsd to name a few are all original government designed for pharmasuitical uses and brain washing and soilder enhancment...

and also 50% of the budget for fighting drugs goes to marijuana alone, and the remaining 50% is divided between everything else like cocaine and heroin and PCP, now doesn't that reek of bullshit?

May as well invest in prisons.

It's funny how hemp and amphetamine were so valuable during times of war, then declared evil once again.

it really is bullshit tho, i mean most of the revolutionary soldiers' uniforms were made of hemp there is over 600tons of hemp in the USS constitution the boat, our money has hemp in it, and hemp is still illegal even tho it has a THC content of under 1% usually

Great letter, and thank you for your service to our country.

I hope you send that letter to the White House. All of us need to write and let our feelings on these insane laws be known.

As you can tell by my username, I think that pot can bring peace to our world and that smoking should be MANDATORY for our world leaders...lol...then maybe they'd chill out a bit and reach for the Doritos instead of the "nuke" button.

I also think that pot is the solution to our economic and healthcare crises. Legalize it, regulate it, tax it, and let docs prescribe it to patients who need it without fear of prosecution. Problems solved!

Oh wait...nah, that makes too much good horse sense. Nevermind!;)

i dont see it as the solution but it sure as hell would make it solvable because our economy is just to fucked right now for such a simple solution, hell its worth a try tho and if it does solve it than we all should become elitists over the Anti legalizes just cause.

Good letter, but don't call the president Osama. That leads to all sorts of things, like people actually believing he's a terrorist. It's just not a road we want to go down.

I am sorry about the Osama part. I just am as upset with him as i am the t-ban leader for they both are making it a scary world in witch to live. As for some of the other questions, i did smoke before the military, and do plan on doing so once i get out here in a few short weeks. If my letter offended, i am truly sorry. I do have to disagree though with a few statements. I feel our voice does matter. If not spoken, it will never be heard. We need our leaders to fear us. Not so much in the since of violence, but in the form of following our constitutional duty to throw out a government that does not work for the people. Also, my other disagreement is about the lack of support in the US. Many polls taken over the last year or so show a 50% +/- to the support of marijuana in these great states. In mich, marijuana got more votes than our pres. Not one county in mich rejected the legalization or medical marijuana. These numbers support a public opinion on the reform of these laws.

yea seriously, besides, you have to address a letter to a person before they'll read it. Good one on pulling my leg though, I was concerned for a moment because s is nowhere near b.

Lol, i have to say, i did not intend for my commander and chief to open up his stoner forum page to read what i had to say. This was just a copy of my letter that i sent in. I surely didn't tittle it to Osama. I basicly put it on here as a general outline on my position and to stir up some conversation on the politics surrounding this great medicin, this great plant, and someday, hopefully, a broad legality to its use for all. Im sorry, like i said before, if i offended by my name choice. He surely is not a terrorist. If he where, he had one hell of a campaign support group. I dont want to cause controversy, i just want to support a cause i believe in.

basically, by addressing obama as osama, you show the maturity of a 2nd grader.

if you want people to take you and your words seriously, grow up and learn how to voice your dissatisfaction like an adult.

As i already stated, i am sorry for the name game i played. Be it a political satire or not, there is no need to talk to anyone like that. Beating a dead horse doent make the fact i said what i did go away. On the other hand, i feel i have showed a great deal of maturity for even acknowledging my short coming, and making amends for it. I'm also glad to be an American under his leadership, although i am very unhappy with him. TkinGLX, have a great day, good grows, bountiful harvests, and thank you for setting me strait.

Sgt B

To everyone else, thanks for all the great comments and responses, but i feel we are getting off track. My hope for this thread was for us to post letters and or ideas for correspondence we have sent, want to send, or plan on sending to our local and national leaders. From these letters, others can gather words, ideas, and the courage to do the same. As Ive said before, if we don't speak, our words will never be heard. Also, if you have letters they might have returned to you, let us know in a nut shell what they say. This way, we as a mass have an idea of the political agenda of the politicians we vote in to speak on our behalf.

Once again, for the last time as well, IM SORRY ABOUT THE OSAMA, OBAMA thing. Really, I am.
