Not a first time grower but have been away from the scene for over a decade so I'm essentially starting from scratch. Taking the time to do a grow log for a couple reasons. One is input from other growers and smokers, advice, questions answered, etc. Secondly so maybe someone will learn something from my grow and help them in the future. I am growing and building out my grow area the same time so the first pictures will be bush league. I will update this thread at least a few times a week and documenting with pictures. Ok so here we go.... Strains Germinating now: God dayum seeds are expensive. Especially the decent strains!! 10 x regular White Widow seeds from Sensi Seeds 2 x DNA Genetics Chocolope Feminized 2 x Barney's Tangerine Dream Feminized (supposedly the highest THC strain on the planet) 10x Sensi Seeds Jack Herer (the one i'm looking forward to the most) 2x G13 Labs Pineapple Express Feminized Growing now: I have access to some rather serious commercial growers so I got some female clones from a friend. 15" female plant which is called Blackberry 2 female clones 1 called Mango 1 called Hash Bud 2 Sensi Seeds White Widow Grow Area Grow area is a one car garage. There is insulation over the garage and I live in Miami so the garage obviously doesn't get cold. Average temperature is somewhere between 84-88 degrees with a 400W HPS at the moment so heat could be an issue. IMO from recent grows anything below 95 degrees doesn't seem to stress the plants to bad (would love some feedback on this) I have ordered a large grow tent. This grow tent will house all the flowering plants Lighting Currently growing under a 400W HPS with a old school magnetic ballast and a big generic reflector hanging from a chain Found a great deal on a Lumatek 600W Dimmable Digital 600W ballast and Emi's Hydroponic Kit from Overstock.com of all places. $160 for the ballast and like 6 station Emi's hydroponic kit. http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Lumatek-600-Watt-Digital-Ballast/5494438/product.html http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Hydrofarm-Emilys-Hydroponic-Garden-System/3882242/product.html I also ordered this for clones and seedlings along with a cheap Germination Station. The 600W lumatek needs a hood still and a bulb. I'm broke as anything right now but within a month I hope to have an 8" cool tube. Grow Medium Last time I did Ebb and Flow tables with rockwool start cubes, then put the cubes into bigger cubes, then onto slabs. It actually worked really well. Not sure why I'm changing it up by my well respected grow buddies convinced me to use soil. According to them it's about KISS. Keep It Simple Stupid.

(looks like Coco?), but I mixed up that with several bags of topsoil, sphagum moss, perilite, and a bag of compost. So I will be using a bunch of small pots then transferring to 5 gallon buckets. I've not done this before and have no clue how to water these things. I'll just take it slow. Nutrients For this grow I went with a line of products called Humbolt Nutrients on the recommendation of another grower. Very different from the GH Flora nutes I used in the past. The Humbolt Nutrients in the bottle are clear and don't even smell much if at all. I hope I didn't buy water. Has anyone used these products before? PH up, PH Down. Now for some pics! Here is the blackberry clone I picked up. As you can see it's probably ready to flower now. I'm just waiting on the grow tent to arrive. In the meantime I'm trying to get twin towers. Have I done this right? I've read that if I bend the main branches tip lower than another branches tip it will be the dominant one. Not sure if this will stunt the plant or not.... thoughts anyone? Here are the other two clones. The short stalky one looks a little sickly, I hope she comes back strong. The taller on is doing well but I don't know what the discoloring on on the leaves are yet. Here's my seedlings. One got munched a little by a bug but nothing bad, the other is doing well also. I'm not sure why they seem to be stretching, they are FOR SURE getting enough light from the 400. Ok, I think that's about it for now for the grow round-up
u`ll be ok so long as ur room dont go above 95, is that the room temp or under ur light temp? from the hanging temp thingi my bob yu hang below ur light ,yu kno what i mean lol , keep a fan on full blast below ur light blowing over top of ur plants at all times , aint ideal but i do it this way and run high temp below light 90-92,and my room around 80-85, its been real high over 100 under the light once or twice on the odd hot day we have over here but i just blast another fan on em , but i do ok , i kno thc aint supposed to produce abvove 95 but my bud always is bang on mashup tackle , go with coco as ur grow medium yu wont be disapointed its the dogs bolloxs as a grow medium in my view , but yu will have to flush it through once a week to wash away salts it holds on too , not a problem tho as yu will need to flush and change ur rezz weekly anyway , how many yu gonna grow at once under 1 x 600 hps ? and what size room yu growing in? , i reckon a 600hps is only good for 4 max , i do 3 under 2 x 600 and am gonna do just 2 next grow one under each , so their yu go lots to think about , good luck man
The room varies from 80-85 degrees in the summer, with the light blazing it can get up to 89-90. Like you said I have a fan hitting the top of the light and plants. Yeah I probably like to have too many plants. I will spread some plants around to other growers. I want some Chocolope clones in my town. I'm definitely gonna need more lights. I would like to do away with the 400hps and get another 1000watt digital dimmable one. Do you ever bend the main branches on your plants to try and get twin or tri-towers? Also. I can't used to seeing Rossi on a Ducati.
Quick germination question for the experienced growers. While growing from seeds do you have to help them along at all? For instance I have some WW germinating and they have popped inside the rock wool cubes but some of them aren't poking throw the rock wool. I used tweezers to make sure the tap was down. Some of them seem to want to grown but have the seed still stuck/hanging on there. Can I gently remove them? The seem to be preventing those two starter leaves from opening.
Kinda. Bending the branches over will expose the center of the plant and the growth there that would have been overshadowed had the main stem towered overhead. It will also expose the growth on the stem..once vertical..to something in the more horizontal fashion...thus giving those growth stems more light as well. By bending you are basically (IMO) trying to form a canopy where the tops are more even across the space rather than having a few main tops. If you are patient you can form >many< "towers". Google LST cannabis and see what you find. A combo of select trimming and LST will make very nice bushes... But to really change the dominance (hormones/auxins)...clip the main stem off. This forces the energy to the sides and again..you can make a nice bush by doing so. (with more veg time, that is...or by trimming the top off early when they are less than 6" tall) As far as the seeds....never germed in RW...but over time I've learned that you just need to get the tp root goin down and let them do their thing. you can break the main stem easily when they are seedlings.then you are screwed. ditto if you try to crack off the seed pod and rip the top off the plant in the process. Was on Ebay looking to drop from my 1000w to 600w and needed a ballast when stumbled on this grow. You just saved me 100.00 or so..... Never herd of overstock now. Thanx brutha
So I was wandering Home Depot looking for stuff that could help my grow. Mainly lighting. Are these twisted CFL bulbs effective for growing like the T5's? TCP SpringLight 68-Watt (300W) Soft White Household CFL Light Bulb (1-Pack) - 28968RP at The Home Depot Thinking about getting some of these. 300W.
Quick shout out to Sensi-Seeds and Attitude Seeds. Just amazing stuff. Soaked in water for about 8 hours overnight. Bam tap roots on 100% of the seeds. Threw them in some flushed out rockwool cubes and bam they are growing so fast you can practically watch them. I will be ordering more seeds from them.
Just a small update. The only good thing to happen today..... UPS came... Gonna use this in conjunction with the soil grow because the soil grow is scaring me for some reason. I can never tell under-watered/over watered. Hydro seems to take watering out of the equation, you only have to worry about PH and Nutrients. With soil you're worrying about the soil moisture, PH, and Nutrients. The clones I got in coco pots from another grower haven't moved an inch since I got them. The seedlings are gonna catch up to them I think. I'm gonna flush the ever loving shit out of them tonight and replant in a last ditch effort to save them. New dimmable 600w ballast came today. Still saving for the hood and bulb however. Will have to veg with the 400W HPS and a few of these which also came today. I'm hoping the more blueish tone of these spiral fluros will keep my seedlings from stretching so much. These are the bulbs I got. I'm gonna go flush and replant some stuff and take some more pics. P.S. My wife left today. She's a mean ass drunk and has flipped out for the last time. Good riddance but still hurts even though I'm wayyyyy better off in the long run. Too make matters worse I'm out of schmokey schmoke!!!!
Well. I hope you're right I was pinching/snapping branches like a madman last night. So I either made a bush or destroyed my best plant I think they'll be alright because snapped an all they turned back up the lights pretty quick.
Just another quick update. No pics or anything. It's so hot I can't get the temps in the room under 90-91F. Seedlings are a very light green and I think the heat or the HPS is making them stretch. I pulled them inside for the time being and put them under 3 300W CFL's. I guess I will start mixing in 1/4 tsp of Micro,Grow,Bloom per gallon and start feeding them. Seems like a waste to pour all this water in these little plants until I get 20% run off. Is that even necessary this early on or is that more vegging? Thanks, Just Another Head!
yu water to get run off to wash away all the bad shit (salts) from previous feeds left in ur medium which will burn even kill ur plants iff yu growing in dirt and watering every few days every 3rd feed id just give them a good swig of water x2/3 size ur pots to proper wash away the salt build up , iff yu got an EC meter check ur run off reading and as the week go`s on it will rise and keep riseing, iff this is left to rise and rise it will do em in, ec/cf/ppm are readings that mean the same,
Lots of interesting stuff coming via UPS this week. Should be some great updates. Seeds are seedlings now, although they are healthy looking the leaves are a little light. PH is an issue for me. I finally had to break down and spend $$$ on a good PH/EC/TDS/Temp meter but it's not hear yet. Water out of my tap appears to be higher than I thought. Somewhere around 8ish. Im having a hard time getting it down. I've been using PHDown for Aquariums because I thought it wouldn't be a little less harsh. Bottle says it treats 500 gallons but I keep adding it a cap a time, wait 2 hours, retest.... still too high. And this is in a 6 gallon resevior. I have some POOL PH down, it's insanely strong though. Should I risk it? I will have some awesome pics this week.
