Alright there are probably a shitload but, what are the remedies you use for the common cold besides the over the counter drugs at the pharmacy? Cannavelli
hot liquids gargle with hot salt water excercise it out but what works the best for me is zicam unfortunately is over the counter but works great
just get plenty of rest and fluids. all you can do is relieve the symptoms a virus has to go through its course.
I don't know where you live, but hopefully there's a pho restaurant there. It's seriously magical food; great for when you're sick, when you're hung over, and of course when you're hungry. If you smoke cigarettes, quitting will help bring down the length of your colds; at least it did for me!
Definitely cut out smoking. I am 2y,5m sober from gallons of 7-7...And that has solved my acid reflux problem, and I breath much better from no alcohol. As far as a remedy, I 'll brb. I have similar thread at hygronomics, and friend left a recipe, I think all of you will like. lw Posted by Bubbles @hygronomics.com Hope you don't mind. "The link." This is a long post. Enjoy the thread. http://hygronomics.com/forum1/index.php/topic,48.0.html Bubbles is a friend/mod at Hdot and moderator/newsreel editor at another compassionate online community we both help out at. I agree with cannaya...Pho food works wonders on cleansing your system and helping you to get over common colds, flu, etc. Plus it tastes awesome.
Try stuff like ginger.. Ginger is very good for a lot of illnesses. It helps if your feeling nauseous. Otherwise you could try hot food ^^ peace out
I drink green tea...constantly even if you dont have a cold... I use garlic chopped up and soaked in olive oil with dash of salt ..i use this on everything..builds immune stystem.. Soaking your feet in hot water and sweating it out...does wonders.. vitamin C...always...1000mg..powerful sorce.. Ginger with umeboshi(sour plum) add with hot water like a tea.. My mothers recipe... Time to time a hit of Ginseng.... Actually ,i havent caught a cold or had the flu in years...i cant remember the last time ..as you know, Hawaii is visited by millions all year ..bringing in all kinds of bacteria...i have been blessed..not catching a cold...but prevention of a cold is good to have a strong immune system pre-embedded into your body....always excercise.. eat well....rest....no stress....and wash your hands , simply, cover your mouth when you cough......If your going to be around sick people,,,,"airborne" works wonders..Use a humidifier to add moisture to the home...i add green tea to mind... Keep healthy happy..positive x[+]x...... aloha.
aside from rest and fluids, chicken soup, from the first day symptoms appear. which for me, has cut down the severity of symptoms, the number of them, and the length of the cold. hands down the best remedy of them all
I have a nice immune system so my colds are never very bad,,.......I never stop smoking pot(never smoke tobacco) when im sick....not worth it
Re: Cold and flu when i stuck by cold i adopt some precaution. take hot liquid, gargle with hot salt water, don't go out side of my home. however if i do not recover then go to clinic for further treatment.
TeeTree Oil rocks! I use it in burners, baths etc ... Vitamin C supplements are also good. Nothing like a good curry to sweat the flu out!
I make an herbal tea of my own devising. I'm terrible with measurements, but it's basically as follows: Equal parts crushed eucalyptus leaf, hyssop, and mint for mild to moderate coughs. Eucalyptus helps clear the airways, hyssop is an expectorant, and the mint is just for flavor. If you have a fever, add in some sweet melissa or catnip. Both are fever reducers, but catnip raises the body temperature and forces a sweat. It can also make you sleepy, so I typically use it before bed. Combine all ingredients in a reusable tea bag or tea ball and steep in piping hot water for a good 5 - 10 minutes. Add honey and/or lemon to taste (hyssop is really bitter.) I've been using variations on this recipe for a couple of years now, and while it won't cure a cold/flu/bronchitis, it's always been a worthwhile treatment. I've also added in a little weed and/or valerian root in evening brews to help me sleep. Beyond that, I find that I crave jalapenos when I'm sick. Full of Vitamin C, and they'll clear your sinuses.
The best cures and forms of prevention are naturally occurring. A tea of mullein, or a rolled joint of the dried leaves (much more soothing than the flowers) helps greatly. Mullein is a plant indigenous all across North America, and readily available in most areas. They can grow to be as tall as three meters, and have a fuzzy appearance. The dried leaves have an aroma reminiscent of fig, and have been used by the Cherokee and other natives as a soothing agent for asthma, sore throats, coughs, or other respiratory maladies. It is a perfect 'base' for smoking blends and its robust flavor contrasts well with most any herb. Most commonly it is used in Native American tobacco blends called Kinnick-kinnick. Do not eat the seeds: they can cause internal damage. However, I find no better remedy for the above ailments than a chamomile and mullein tea, or a smoked joint of mullein. As for vitamin C, my friend, you are wasting your time. Tablets, supplements, and the like are also wasting your money. Not only are the prevention qualities overrated, but you can obtain your daily need of vitamin C through fruits or other basic foods -purchasing the tablets just provides you with excess. You probably have some very expensive urine.
