Dry County Entertainment has planned an unlikely remake in the form of Chopping Mall, Variety reports. Robert Hall, the man behind Laid to Rest and Chromeskull: Laid to Rest 2 will direct, re-teaming with screenwriter and producing partner Kevin Bocarde.

The original film, written and directed by Jim Wynorski, was produced by Julie and Roger Corman and released in 1986 under the title Killbots. The story involved a group of teenagers trapped inside a shopping mall and hunted by the building's new security force: state of the art robots with a taste for blood.

The new version of Chopping Mall is expected to downplay the science fiction elements and instead focus on a supernatural terror.

Wynorski is one the greats from the 80s(and a wee bit into the 90s).- damn, clicked enter too soon.

Chopping Mall perfect the way it is, but this remake craze doesn't leave open room for surprises with such announcements.

Have you seen Hard To Die(Wynorski )? It's one of my favourite "slashers-with-bimbos" and is amazingly made in the early 90s. If you ever liked Evil Toons( Fred Olen Ray), then H2T would be right up your alley. A stoner's delight.

Well considering they were talking to Justin Bieber about being the next "New"
Marty McFly in the (I hope it never happens) back to the future remake.
I don't understand how remakes happen?;deadhorse Fuck, they're remaking Starship Troopers for crying out loud! But if BTTF is greenlit I stop watching movies forever.

No, I'm not too familiar with his work. I'll check it out and give it a shot.
Wes Anderson/Kevin Smith and Guy Ritchie are my usual favorites But anything from the 80s nukes all that is the future of now.
