I thought I had read that with cfl's you had to use mechanical timers. Does anyone know if this is true?;revenge

Compact Fluorescent lamps are an inductive load, as are HID's or anything that runs off a ballast or starter. I don't see how it would be an issue using a digital or mechanical timer. All you'll need to do is make sure the Current or Amp load rating on the contacts is about 10 amps more than the resistive load that the unit is rated for.
