So i have decided to buy a new bong and i need ideas or user reviews. the couple i have had my eye on are the messiahs illusion "lil bitch" and the 5mm inline by weed star. as well as the black leaf five arm. Any ideas?
canadian or american made borosilicate glass bongs are best. weedstar products come from somewhere out east. its always good to support your local glass artists
Try and find a blower that will make a nice custom piece for you. Can't go wrong with getting exactly what you want.
my prized piece is a roor. It was gave to me on my birthday. I never pay more then 50 bucks for a bong tho. I go for functionality instead an durabilty instead of looks. Nothing will ruin ur day like when you break your prized awesome glass bong. Lesson hard earned. just my opinion tho. to each their own. I like spending my cash on what u put in them instead.
2 Blowers, I know personally can make you some nice stuff. Both, excellent prices and HQ Boro glass. Leviathan Pipes (you can find him on fb... tell him I sent you, he should hook you up). Makers of the Leviathan BDV Megatube. SSFG or Soulshine Family Glass - MOST glass heads have heard of these people. Allison and Ray are 2 great people and Ray makes some really nice stuff. It has an artisan/scientific feel, whereas Leviathan is purely scientific. Ray makes one of the best inlines on the market. Purrs like a kitten. (again... mention me, you should get hooked up) *By now, I assume the OP has purchased a piece (Lot slower around here, than I thought). Info for anyone looking. Roors are over-priced and nothing but a name, at this point. Plus, they're the most counterfeited brand of water pipes, on the planet. Even the knock off, go for similar prices. There are other name's, that make as high quality, for a fraction of the cost. Ehle, being one of them. I'd snap up an Ehle tube, have money for meds AND a vaporizer, for the price of a Roor. Hell, Leviathan sells a 17-18" 5mm straight tube, 50mm wall for $75, I believe.
Oops... correction. The Leviathans are 7mm glass. There's 2 bubblers I want (not released yet) from them and then this is my next piece, afterwards... though, might get another SSFG, before that. $135 (not a misprint)
Depending how much interest there is, there's some really easy ways and a LOT of resources out there to get nice stuff, in the sub $150 range and even nice enough to use regularly down to $40 and still feel like you've got a nice piece. Even for larger budgets, you can get so much more bang for your buck. But, you have to know where to look and what you're buying. Obviously my interest, is more towards vapor and it influences my decisions... but as anyone that has seen pictures of my 22" Leviathan can attest... I'm not immune, to the lure of nice hefty big rigs.. I used to drive them (big rigs)... must be a weird mental thing. Anyway... So many people go to their local head shop, or tobacco store, or other inefficient ways of getting glass, when there's stuff out there, for the same price... that you will treasure! Honestly, my Leviathan was given to me, by the owner. Had I bought it from him, He probably would have let it go for sub-$200, because I'm a friend. TO any one of you, that contacted him out of the blue... he'd still probably let you have it in the $250 range. In a head shop... its easily a $750 (or more) piece of glass. Glass blowers are quirky guys, but cool. Get to know not only them, but make relationships with those around them. Usually, the people around them, are just as interesting, but that's were you'll find your first new friend. I don't mean for exploiting it... I honestly mean... a new friend. Can't have enough of them, I believe. Though I'm only truly close to a few... some of them, came to me, through the glass world. Soulshine Family Glass (SSFG). I spent $150 and got a 3 piece, what many would call a travel rig. For a vapor person like me... its one of the ultimate setups/rigs. Very well known glass blower (Ray), in a lot of circles. I wanted the piece done in a certain way. It required that all 3 pieces be blown new AND fit together. 10" beaker, showerhead downstem (the frothiest, you've seen) and Ray's specialty perc, a Mini Inline AC/Perc w/ 18mm female end. While nice and compact, truly a little beast. I've also got a small leanback gridded inline bubbler, blown by Dave M, that sells for $100 or $105... can't remember. Any of these pieces worthy of displaying in a cabinet and built strong enough... they don't shatter like the cheap glass bongs, with a *TINK* against the sink. I'm anal about not doing it, but its inevitable. Its like a black hole, sucking it in... any of my old glass would be shattered by now. The nice pieces, that I paid a pittance more for, made new friends and received the blood, sweat and tears effort of those new friends, with works of art. Psh... Six Degrees of Separation. If you all are looking for cheap, to sublime... it can be gotten, very easily. We just have to communicate.
