;smoker Do you think it is ok for your kids to try cannabis!!!! I have a 14 year old son and yes he has tried it and I think he enjoys it but I would rather he waited till he had his education sorted. Waits your opinion.....;coffee

I think 18 is a good age you are an adult and are responsible for your actions at that age.I do think some kids are very mature before that age and in some cases their is in exception if my kids smoke before 18 I hope to educate them on it before they are smokers and hopefully make sure they stay on track with their everyday responsibilities.

    IMHO
i think at 14 the brain development is still evolving.
With hormones and mental and physical changes during teen years ,
i vote for waiting until development slows down and is more stable.
Give the body a chance to find its baseline.
Another factor is if they can provide for the weed,
be able to afford it themselves,
then that is one miles stone marker.

Well I had some in mature cousins
becouse i started at the age of 10

    but im fine now
so it didnt realy afect my life

    dont get me wrong
i think it would be iresponsibel
to let your 14 year old son smoke

if i was you i would wait till he turns 16/17
and ask him if he wants to smoke a joint with the old man;pass

this is a really good question. every circumstance is different but with my kids i focused on communication and education. My kids knew i smoked i didn't hide it from them though i was respectful about where and when i smoked when they were young. When my kids got old enough to start experimenting on their own, i was honest about my feelings that marijuana is for responsible adults (18 is adult here) and i did not smoke with my son until he was 18 even though i knew he was smoking elsewhere. Once i even confiscated some weed from him and i swear it looked like sawdust. i said number one you were easy to catch you're lucky i'm not a cop and number two the shit you were smokin won't give you nuthin but a headache. This is a prime example of inexperience and why you should wait to put things into your body until you know what the hell you're doing.

today both my kids are well educated on marijuana and i'm happy to say they see right through the propaganda bullshit and are open minded about individual rights to privacy and personal choice. one of my kids chooses to partake, one chooses not too. but they are both well educated ADULTS.

hell once you hit adulthood... what the hell else you got to look forward to???? lol

;potsign Some great feedback guys and I thank you for it. My son and I have talked at lengths about this subject and we both understand and respect each others views on this. My son lives full-time with his father and with me on weekends etc due to my health condition, but when he is with his father he goes out to hang with his friends and hence the reason he has tried cannabis, but his father would pop a arse cherry if he knew and this leaves my son in a situation where he feels he cannot talk about it with his dad. I have educated my son as best I know how because I am a true believer the knowledge is power.;coffee

    hi Kiwi

    well, considering his age,
you will still have to be the parent
    and its all about education,
and how you deal with the issues
    so, hang in there,
and keep up the good work
    xoxo

    Hi kiwi,

This is a complex subject ... especially in a place where weed is illegal or could hamper his ability to get employment doen the road ....

Personally I think that 14 is too young to give "approval" .. It is your (and his fathers) responsibility to get him into adulthood ... Kids need limits and your instincts should rule ... You are doing the right thing ... educate the heck out of him whenever he has a question ... honestly on both the pros and cons ...

The rule with my kids was that I wouldn't approve any behavior that was illegal, or led them on an inappropriate path ... but when they became adults (18) ... They could make their own decisions, make their own mistaked and take full responsibility ... even at 18, it can be scary, but at some point you gotta let them fly ..

I find you highly irresponsible and a poor example for a parent.
To subject your child to drugs and questions of morality (14 is still a child in most states) is child endangerment and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The fact you come to a stoners forum to get parenting advice shows you lack of judgment. Not giving your son structure and having him believe that breaking laws is something that is OK is blatantly WRONG! It's "accidental parents" like yourself that destroy the moral fiber of this great country! I think you need to reevaluate your own situation and find counseling , rehab or if there anyone in your family that you haven't already burdened with your mess of a life INTERVENTION!!

well I must say I am a horrible parrent because I smoked in front of my step daughter. She knew I cooked speed & sold drugs for a long time.Well she is now 18 & still has not tried any type of drug & has no desire to. I contribute this to the fact I did not hide it & made it known what it all was & that I was breaking the law & would most likely end up in prison.
I started smoking herb @ the age of 6 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gotta love a big brother, lol.I can say that I would not get any kid high at the age of 14 unless I saw them heading towrds that path with the wrong kind of people.

Me personaly think this,do I want to be a hypocrite or liar I choose to be a teacher.Teach them show them the bad & the good of all drugs, including the ones that they shove down ya from the drug store.maybe it's because I choose to not be so nieve as to think that someone else isnt allready talking to my child !!!!!!!!
Igrew up in thge ghetto & now live in fairly nice house with my wif of 12 years tommorrow. Eveerymorning I leave for work with the kids in the drive way & waive & say hello to my nieghbors.
every person has the potential to become a addict & the propaganda is not in their favor so educate them to what is their envirorment.
Kiwi if you feel your son is old enough to handle a mind & body alltering drug that he may do for the rest of his life.ROLL IT UP LOVE.
I will keep drugs & alcohol from my kids as long as I possibly can.If ya hide shit from your kids they hide shit from you & you can quote me on that.sorry if i rambled on a bit but i had something to say & now I dont rember what I wrote, lmao. See kids stay of weed in your youth & avoid powders allways.... peace ;poke;smoke

You must have been the coolest kid in the first grade !!!

Tru Dat ... (and I did quote you) ..

Parents have instincts .. and they should trust them ... each family is different, but if there is a loving relationship ... it's all good ... the biggest problem today is the absence of parenting ... IMO

There is a great song performed by Bob Marley & the Wailers called "You Can't Blame the Youth"
I think everyone should give a listen....
When every christmas comes you buy the youth a pretty toy gun.
So you cant blame the youth.
You teach the youths about Christopher Colombus & say he was a great man
you teach the youth about Marco Polo & say he was very great man
You teach the youth about the pirate hawkins & say he was a very great man.
Anyway you cant blame the kids that you have tought,u get one chance to be a parrent, Hope you get it right is all you can really do.
    EACH ONE TEACH ONE

A strong foundation makes life alot easier down the road. Eighteeen is a good starting point to make a judgement call. It all depends on how mature and responsible the person is.
