It was a good movie and I liked it, but I chafed a little bit at how they portrayed Timothy Leary....

    Still a great movie though!

Haven't seen it yet. Why didn't you like about the Leary portrayal?

You mean the Dr. Robert character? I thought he was based more on Ken Kesey...

No. Dr. Robert was most definitely Ken Kesey, lol. The bus, the acid tests, and the revealing quote "you're either on the bus, or off the bus" nail that one down pretty good.

No, I mean the Dr. Geary that Dr. Robert drove to see. Ken Kesey did attempt to meet with Dr. Leary during one of the bus trips and was in fact turned away by Dr. Leary(though this wasn't actually what they made the trip for, so much as it was a stop along the journey).

The reason I didn't like it is because they made Dr. Leary look like a slightly creepier carnival version of the Ken Kesey character, when the very reason Dr. Leary supposedly refused to meet with Kesey is because Kesey advocated wild adventures and stimulation while on the drug and Leary advocated the quieter introspective meditation end of things. Kesey used it as a drug and Leary as an entheogen and the movie made it seem as if they both used it as a drug.

I'm fuckin blazed while writing this so if any of that is fucking redundant or nonsensical....my bad.

I thought it was pretty good. I'm watching it right now. But I also watched it last night.
