found out about a book a few days ago called botany of desire. don'y have my hands on a copy yet but will be lent a copy once the person who told me about it finishes reading hers. very interesting premise... the author looks at which of us(plants or humans is really having the bigger impact on the others' evolution. from what i understand he makes a strong case that the plants are using us for their needs as much if not more then the other way around. one thing i have found online is a pdf file of a lecture the author gave in the early 2000s at berkley. think of it as a way to whet your whistlehold on... it's not currently letting me attach a file: error message reads bad command apache blah, blah, blah. will attempt again tomorrow
assuming this works the cannabis specific content begins on about page 16 well drat! maybe i'm too much of a newb to be allowed attachments or something: Bad Request Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. Apache/2.2.3 (CentOS) Server at 178.237.38.30 Port 80 for those of you wanting to get ahold of this... the author is michael pollan and the pdf is titledollan, Michael (et al) - Cannabis, Forgetting, and the Botany of Desire (2002)
Great find, Pharmafree! Thanks for sharing this!!!!!! I found that PBS aired a documentary based on the book. Book and DVD are available for purchase at PBS.org at a reasonable bundle price. On the PBS website there is a whole interactive experience based upon the book and documentary. One quarter of the book and program are about cannabis - you can click on the tabs and look at just these segments if you wish. So three choices for learning A LOT: 1. Work thru the interactive on-line experiece at PBS.org 2. Read the book 3. Watch the DVD Here is the link: The Botany of Desire: Based on the book by Michael Pollan: Cannabis - Intoxication | PBS
no rick... thank you for bringing pbs's involvement with it to light. having a big player like pbs and their production capabilities(not to mention mass audience) are exactly what the movement need. hemp hemp hooray
^^^ good guess ^^^ and an issue i hadn't even thought of but after checking it is only a 754 kb file. no matter... the word has gotten out and at a near perfect time considering missouri's initiative petitions getting the go ahead.
