I don't think that any game consel has given me as much joy as my N-64. Mind you, it was the only consel I had while still being a kid, and it was the first 3D gaming experience I had (excluding Duke Nuken 3D), but still... freaking amazing experiences and memories.
The countless hours trying to earn every cheat code on Goldeney, and the even more hours having Goldeneye multiplayer matches. Makes me long for the years of being a teenager again. Oh, I also spent hours with the "hacking" feature on my gameshark pro and managed to create a cheat where bond could fly.
Mario 64 is still by far the best Mario game ever made. The whole castle theme was bloody brilliant; the way you opened up new floors and hidden areas, the many levels of the most cool design ever. Mario Sunshine was a piece of crap (I liked the graphics, but gameplay was awful and kiddie). Mario Galaxy was a vast improvement over Sunshine, but still doesn't come close to 64.
One thing I wish those guys at Nintendo would realize is that having 1/3 as many levels doesn't even out just because you make them 3x bigger! I mean yes they're bigger, but just for having more empty space to run across. Mario 64 still has the most levels, and their design was so much better. And it still doesn't have that kiddie element of the last 2 that just make you want to smash your consel over your head.
Reminds of me how George Lucas suddenly decided that Star Wars was "just a movie for kids" all along, and so made episodes 1-2-3 like kid's movies.
Did anybody play Shadows of the Empire? That's one of my all-time favorite games in history, and I miss it so much but can't find another copy since my last one went missing so many years ago. IMO the coolest star wars game ever made. I even mastered the almost-impossibly difficult cheat code to enter, which allowed you to have infinite ammo and play as a TIE fighter or an X-Wing.
Oh! And you know how in the credits it says "Can you beat these times?" and it has the developer's best times for beating the levels... well I beat their Skynet time by 45 seconds. 'Twas a great moment in my life (lol).

I was still playing 64 even when the Gamecube came out, then i traded the 64 to get a cube (stupid, only good games where RE4 and Super Smash Melee).
I got all the stars in mario 64
got all the music notes and puzzle pieces in Banjo-Kazooie
got every metal twice on all the levels in Starfox 64.
got EVERYTHING in Zelda ocarina of time
Sysytem was amazing

Oh that's right I forgot, Mario Kart 64 and Ocarina of Time: two of the greatest gaming experiences of my life. The kart races between me and my friends, and the battles, were just epic.
I really don't understand what's happened to nintendo; once Gamecube came out, there's just been a total dirth of good games. Resident Evil 4 is really fun on Wii, but otherwise... it's weired that Wii is by far the highest-selling game system, but I think everybody got it for the same reason I did; the cool control system. Then we all came to the sad reality that very few good games exist for it (Force Unleashed has been fun, in a very limited way).
