Halo 3 Mystery Trailer

Ok if theres any Halo 3 players on the site then no doubt you will have seen or heard about the new trailer released yesterday on the 1 year anniversary of Halo 3's release....

If you haven't then you should check youtube or Bungie.net....

Anyways it depicts (or seems to depict) a scene from Halo 2, when The prophet of Regret's Ship jumps to slipspace over New Mombassa....

There are of course many theory's already as to what this means (such as it is a new game or some new DLC) and the vid has already been picked apart frame by frame by the fans....

I was just wondering if there are any stoned theories about it??

i heard yesterday nothing is gonna happen with another game, and they were possibly going to be bringing in an MMO Halo. But the deal eventually fell through and Halo doesn't look like it has anything new coming out, except new DLC. But that's a far fetch too.

They released a bunch of stuff from what i hear just to release it, like the MMO plans and screenshots, just because.

well actually a few days ago they released what was called Title Update 2, which added new achievements, and pretty much reworked the stats and playlists, but i'm still waiting for the new Mythic maps to come out before i start playing regularly again... i think its about 6 or 7 new maps too....

Theres a lot of speculation from this trailer that it's a campaign expansion, new game mode, new game etc...

Oh and btw, don't mean to sound like a dick but if you don't like Bungie or Halo then don't bother posting negative stuff to bring us "fanboys" down, go to the COD4 thread and bitch about the lack of their DLC instead, thanks

I'm sorry if you hate Bungie, but i assure they care more about their community and what we want than the folks at COD4 do

since its right here im gonna bitch about the lack of DLC for COD4. Bummer it is, seeing how itd be easy as jack to add trophies to the mix. and when i do play online for one of the four DL maps, it never goes to em anyomore.

anyway, i just heard all that on x-play late last night about the halo stuff. i knew there was stuff planned, but i heard that a halo iv or mmo game was not gonna happen, and when the studio wanted to dump it and move people to other games, they kept a special section open to continue to work on halo. but those people also had limited time to conitnue work.

this is all what ive heard or understood. i like to know all about good games but since i have no xbox360 or xbox for that, i did like halo though, i dont know all i should about halo. educate, edumicate....

I went to PAX this year(Penny Arcade Expo) and last, guess what Bungie's booth was BOTH YEARS! Thats right, Halo 3. While every other company at the convention was showcasing their latest titles, Bungie is sitting on their laurels and showing Halo 3 again. They didn't even have a nice booth.

But my being unimpressed by Bungie goes a bit further back than that. All they've made recently is Halo, and while the first one was revolutionary and basically made the Xbox as a console, the other 2 have brought much less to the table in my opinion. They're still rock solid games that can provide a lot of entertainment(which is of course very important) but I dont view them as being the golden gods on gaming that everyone makes them out to be.

I think its time for them to move on and make a new game. They've got enough programmers to found a small country, so wheres the steady stream of big titles?

They are coming out with Halo Wars still i believe, the halo RTS. But i also know that is completely separate companies, I heard somewhere there was plans for a Halo movie, maybe this could be related.

So their overated because they've made shit loads of money of off 1 game series... yeah i can see how dumb they've been... No one claims they are gaming gods, infact your the first person i've known to call them that, i even know lots of hardcore Halo fans that don't like bungie that much....

But honestly HalfFoot your ramblings sound more like a jealous rant of an employee of a rival games development firm... so what if they're success is rooted in one game series? Halo 3 grossed more than Spiderman 3 did at cinema box office, AND more than the latest Harry Potter book did... and as you said it's a rock solid game with a huge fanbase, sounds to me like Bungie we're just the smartest out of all the games developers.... rather than loosing focus and fucking up a few games made at once, they focused on what their fans/customers wanted instead and are enhancing the gaming experience of they're most popular title... they're not resting on their laurels, they're doing the smart thing as a company and staying at the part of the river where the gold is.

Personally i don't care who made the game, but i play the game and i don't wanna see it die for the sake of the next big fad... and i sure as hell don't wanna waste my money on some half assed game that a company took a few days to put together...

I'm sure i can't change your opinion on Halo or Bungie... but ask wtf have infinty ward done lately for the COD4 fans out there? diddly-fuckin-squat thats what, and most people hold them in higher regard as Bungie... Atleast Bungie listen to they're community and what they want...

Anyway back on topic...

i'm pretty sure this a campaign expansion but people are saying that it'll be based on the ODST's and that it MIGHT be a squad based shooter, possibly third person, but i think this is unlikely as it would basically be changing the game engine.... i'm thinking more along the lines of a straight up campaign extension from the perspective of an ODST with a cinematic feel to it, that however is just my guess...

anyone got anything different?

im positive i saw the new halo game mmo/third person thing was kaput. and whoever was gonna make it backed out. they said it looked alot like WOW.

But thats for the new game, not anything out currently.

smaller game dev squads are better than big ones. they develop better content and they release it more often. theres less BS for the code, and gameplay to have to go through.

nah this is definitely not a new game, just some sort of DLC campaign expansion, as the trailer does have the Halo 3 logo at the end and Bungie themselves have said it's a campaign expansion, i just can't see them straying away from the FPS base of the game engine, it just seems too unlikely...

and to make things even more confusing is that the trailer seems to show a scene from halo 2.... more speculation awaits.

The 'purpose' of this thread is stoned speculation. I made mine. I think Bungie is taunting you trying to keep you on their teet while they count their money and consider releasing something someday to take more of your money. Not what you were looking for? Too fuckin bad. You asked my opinion and I gave it to you and then you ask for clarification and tell me to fuck off? Calm down, not everyone has to be as rivited by the Halo series as you, and just because someone else doesn't jump everytime someone puts up a new Halo vid on youtube doesn't give you the right to be a dick. For the record I do play Halo, its a solid multiplayer shooter, but I don't really view a rereleased scene from a previous game to be something to get excited over, as was my original statement.

I think Bungie and Halo are overrated because I view games as an ART FORM and Bungie's games push no limits, set
