Any of the Silent Hill series was always amusing for me to play. Just beat "Silent Hill Origins" and it was WAY too short, so I was slightly disappointed. But still fun to play completely in the dark. That fucking fog on the streets and the shuffling and groans of those hideously twisted creatures as they advance straight toward you.....YaY! Though my favorites have always been the fucked-up nurses.

Silent Hill is realy fun, the first one was amazing, I still remember playing it at 1am, thinking of turning it off cause it was too scary, but not doing it because it would be too dark then (I was about 12 when I played it, so yeah, one of the most frightening things I remember doing as a kid)
silent hill has always had more of a scare factor compared to Res evil or any others in that genre, a truly spine-chilling atmosphere... i played the first one when i was way too young for it lol, so i never finished it, one of the few games i found actually scary... only other one to do that was AVP 2 while playing as a marine, with aliens jumping at you from dark corners that you swear you checked 5 seconds ago, always made me jump out my skin lol, but playing as the Alien or Predator was very cool.

I'm actually replaying the first one. Still creepy as shit to this day. Resident Evil's also a favorite series of mine. It seems a lot of posts I've read in other forums have fans that are either hardcore one or the other. As of late, I admit I've been in more of a Silent Hillish frame of mind and even, subconsciously, drew a tribute picture to the first game. It's still in the making, and I'm pissed that I left my scanner behind. But hopefully within a month or 2, I can have it scanned and possibly posted once it's finally completed...where was I going with this? Oh, yeah. Both games are awesome, each has its own unique charm, and I dig 'em equally. Never fails for a scary good time.

if you like atmospheric creepy games i recommend Alien Vs. Predator 2 or Condemned 1 or 2, they are first person shooters which imo makes them more creepy cuz things just jump out at you from nowhere and you get more drawn into the game...
I've played the demos of condemned and it is a spooky game... and i could never finish AvP as any of the characters... as the Predator i always got stuck in a cave with hundreds of Aliens and couldnt find my way out.... as the Alien i always got stuck at a fight with the Predator cuz he blows himself up after you beat him and i couldnt find a way out of the room, and i can't remember where i get stuck as the Marine but it's scary as hell playin as him lol
Just depends if your into FPS games tho
Peace

Hrm...FPS's are really hit or miss for me, though I did enjoy Darkwatch. And Gun. But I've been wanting to play Condemned 2 for a while, never knew if it was for the ps2 as well though. I have a bad habit of playing games out of order sometimes. I think I started another thread here on another game series, Fatal Frame. Very creepy Japanese survival horror with a camera as your only weapon. This is another one that uses sound to its advantage to scare the bejebus outta you. It has a First Person POV only when you look into the camera to take a picture, and I really dug that. Made it seem very personally creepy. You've intrigued me into wanting to play and complete AvP...I can never play something and NOT beat it, ya know? Drives me stark raving mad. Last time I had to do that was when I was stuck at the final Boss (the possessed Princess) on Paper Mario:The Thousand Year Door, lol, and I didn't have good enough stats, so she kept kicking my ass. I refused to have this game as unbeaten on my personal record! So I, in turn, after starting all over and earning grand stats, kicked HER ass...and it was a joyous day....

I hate it when i can't finish a game, drives me mental... i remember Flashback on the old Sega Mega drive, that was crazy hard... took me forever to finish....
But yeah AvP2 is easily my scariest gaming experience playing as the marine, the atmosphere just doesnt give you a break like most games where there are areas or times where you feel relatively safe... not in this game, i was brickin it the whole time lol.... random pipes (that look like Alien heads) falling from the cieling doesn't help, specialy when you could've sworn you seen something on the motion tracker, and every dark corner is a potential hiding place for these little bastards... i would've loved to play it online as an alien to scare the shit out people but as i downloaded an 'unofficial' version of the game i couldn't go online... which is why i hope they make a remake or a new one for the 360, that would be class!
/End Rant.
