Fuckin' noobs. When you finish playing Goldeneye do you know how to be a secret agent? When you finish playing Madden are you any better at being a pro football player? When you finish playing Grand Theft Auto are you a better criminal? Either way, you're still 'wasting' your time playing a game, no matter what genre of game it is. It's a video game, and it's fun. I play guitar myself, and it's 2 very different things.
And yes, I bet the makers should be ashamed, swimming in their pools of fucking money.
I'm with pit. Games aren't their to make you better at things, they're their to entertain you(and also possibly to increase hand eye coordination I guess). I love guitar games, and so do a lot of other people. If it doesn't entertain you, fine, but that doesn't make it crap.

well, fps improve my reflexes and aim, hand-eye co-ordination, plus combat techniques become second nature to you no matter which fps your playing (like reloading at any spare second, checking corners etc. etc.)...
playing Madden may possibly make someone a better coach as you learn formations, manouvers (sp?), techniques etc. , allthough i have never played any football games and don't plan on doing so.
and as for grand theft, well thats just fun to play
oh and just for arguement sakes, Rockband has been getting alot better reviews than Guitar Hero 3

One could easily say that Guitar Hero and Rockband improve musical rhythm and understanding of song structure, as well as hand-eye coordination. It also teaches you how to be a flamboyant guitarist!
Rockband is still a fake music game, so your argument there is nothing. And on that topic, I still think the Guitar Hero series is better. I'm not really a fan of the drums even though I have the game. Since I like to play the guitar a lot, Rockband isn't that great since the guitar parts are way too easy (compared to the GH series). Plus it has a lot of stupid songs that have to fit into the 'Band Dynamic' idea. Rockband does have a fucking awesome custom character system though, I must say.
BUT, we're going completely off topic here, and that isn't fair to the people who want to talk about Final Fantasy (lol).
