Stoner Buck$$: 160.10 | Should I get a Volcano?
Hey guys!
I have just learned about vaporizers, and it's peaked my interest a lot!
I'm pretty much a casual smoker, maybe once or twice a week, and I usually use the hot knife method with a bottle made out of 500ml cans, which I put in the freezer before each hit. I don't smoke cigarettes, so whenever I smoke a joint or using a pipe, it hurts my throat and I usually start coughing a lot. This prevents me from really getting baked, hence why I prefer the cooler smoke when using a frozen bottle.
So I think a vaporizer would be good for me because the vapour is supposed to be really easy to inhale and it isn't bad for your health too!
I checked the local classifieds, and saw someone selling a volcano (classic) for 350$ (canadian) negociable. I spoke with him and he really needs to get rid of it to pay the bills, so I may be able to get it for 300$.
Now, I've read the volcano is the best vaporizer out there. The problem is I only smoke about half an ounce a year, so that's about 100$ per year. Since vaporizing really gets the most out of the weed, I guess I could get the same highs for half the amount of weed, saving 50$ a year.
It's not really worth getting one only to save money. Now if the buzz you get from vaporizing is better and it doesn't have any carcinogens, I think it would be worth it. Thing is, I can get a VaporGenie for about 70$, and it's portable too.
Do you think the volcano would be a good buy for me, or should I get the cheaper vapes? I can also buy the volcano and sell it for the same amount if I'm not satisfied. Hmmmm, tough call!
Any advice? | |

If you plan on smoking for the rest of your days, you may as well go for the deal. I have an SSV (Silver Surfer Vaporizer) and I love the thing. If you search Vaporizer on here you'll find many a thread with some good comparisons. Vaporizing is great either way.

Well, the SSV is 249$ US + shipping and everything...so it would be the same price as buying the used Volcano. Plus I can try it out before buying it so if something is wrong I can always close off the deal.

my guess is that you most definitely would not be dissatisfied with the volcano, however for that price you can get a few other vaporizers that you would be most happy with as well.
the thing about the volcano is that it fills up bags. the vapor in the bag is not very thick, so some people would say it is not as pleasurable as a good thick whip vaporizer hit.
with other vaporizer models, it is also easier to load less herb into the bowl, the volcano has a largish chamber that is easy to load a lot into. it works just fine with lesser amounts, but other vaporizers work better with naturally smaller bowls.
just as there is no "best" car in the world, there is no "best" vaporizer in the world. there are certainly best in their own category cars and vapes tho, that is where a little researching can land you with the vape perfectly suited for you.
personally, i would recommend a purple days/myrtlezap for you, these are excellent "one hitter" types of vapes, you get more than just one hit per bowl, but you only load a tiny little pinch in there. in terms of usage efficency, these two are king.
if you want something a little headier, then i suggest a da buddha vaporizer. you load the herb in the bowl and hit at your lesiure. if you happen to notice yourself pleasently toasted but still have plenty of hittable herb still in the bowl, you can just remove the wand from the vape and keep it in there until you want another hit. this is a true whip vaporizer, it will give some stunningly big hits. guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
i think the price for the pd/mz is 150 bucks, the dbv is only 10 more for the silver model, so for the price of that volcano you could buy both of these and probably be more satisfied than had you gotten the 'cano.

Great advice tokin!
What website would you recommend to get any of those vapes you recommended? Taking into consideration I live in Canada, are there any problems with customs when ordering vapes? Any canadian suppliers worth checking out?

the purple days is hand built by 2 people, currently there is a waiting list for them, but as far as i am aware the myrtlezap can ship immediately. the manufacturer site is aromazap.com
if you are considering a dbv, if you have a paypal account you can buy one through me at Tokins Vapes, Herbal Vaporizer - Silver Surfer Vaporizer - Da Buddha Vaporizer - Tobacco Vaporizer
i have sent a few orders to canada with absolutely no troubles with customs.

if you love to smoke yes, if it is just a passing thing, no. It's a life long toy that will bring you much happiness if you are core enough.

Well, I love smoking, but I use to smoke with others exclusively. That way, I could use any crappy weed and get high, even if it took me a lot of time just to get high because of the low concentration of THC. I was in good company, and that's what made it great.
Now my roomate has a girlfriend and he gave up smoking for her, so I'm stuck smoking by myself...that's why I need a better high to get the same fun as I used to. I mostly smoke at home, so having a portable device is not necessary.
I intend on smoking for the rest of my life, even though I will probably reduce the frequency once I get a job, a wife, kids, etc. I'd never give up weed for a girl, and I'd manage to blaze when the kids aren't around so I don't influence them in any way.
One other factor to take into consideration is I have a couple of friends that smoke weed but not very often (talking about once every 2 months here). The volcano looks like a nice party vape, and would be a good excuse to get all those friends together to try it out and maybe find a smoking buddy in the pack Although I guess I could do the same with a whip vape like the Da Buddha!
Ahh, decisions, decisions...I'll weigh the pros and cons when I'm a little more lucid. Time to smoke the last remains of hash I have left
PS: My other roomate has been seeing this girl and she just told me she found a big bag of weed at her house (she has some pusher friends), and is willing to trade it to me for a bottle of red wine sice she doesn't smoke! She told me it was a quarter....of a pound! That's like 4 ounces Please pray so that this trade goes well | |

good lord she's an idiot, unless that is a really nice bottle of hundred year old wine, idk.
Have you thought about just smoking better weed or getting a better bong? I got a 3 1/2 ft. black and clear glass on glass ( somewhat thick glass, not like handmade though ) tri perc with a splash guard and an ice chamber (sadly machine made) yesterday at a head shop for $130 (my fiancιe broke the pink one I got last week with the single perc/ ice chamber ). It also has a 3 joint down stem for small or large bowls and a skull bowl that looks really cool. I'd try going down a cheaper route before getting a volcano if you're just looking for loner fun.
Also you could try getting stoned and then going out, that's really fun.

The PD for measured doses and great efficiency, and the DBV for those times when you want a big hit or have friends over.
Bags are easy but boring. Your vapor is diluted with air and all the hits are the same. It is easier to use for those new to vaporizing, but I wouldn't buy a bag unit just because it's newbie proof. Let your friends figure out how to hit a whip.

I upgraded it with an ssv heater cover and wand. I had to cut the top of the circle opening out with a grinder. (don't try this at home) lol
The purple days looks like the one hitter of the vape world. Do you have to keep packin it or does one bowl work 4 u ? ?
