Stoner Buck$$: 434.56 | The Vapolution Vaporizer: A Review by BenTokin This was originally posted on another forum a couple days ago. I put it here so more people will read it. This is MY (BenTokin) personal opinion of the Vapolution Vaporizer after 2 years of use. Vapolution #1 -- Temp control knob grinds up insulation material (mica) and eventually caused the knob to stick at the highest temp. Sent it back at my expense for a replacement. Vapolution #2 -- Same temp knob problem, but not AS bad (it still turns but its rough). I ended up dropping this unit and the top center part cracked but didn't break any of the functional parts. I cracked open the bottom and dumped out the mica insulation. "Cheap ass piece of shit!" or a similar phrase escaped my lips when I saw the internal components. Literally, a laboratory test tube wrapped with the flimsy heat wire. Everything was fully exposed to the loose mica chunk insulation!!! This unit looks like a prototype on the inside!!!!!! I was pissed off that I had spent $150 on something I could have rigged up myself. Yes, the outside looks alright, but even that looks cheap when you really look closely. That being said, it does still function, sort of. I refilled it with sand, because I had lost some of the mica, duct taped a circle of cardboard on the bottom and then superglued the top center section back in place. All sealed up again! It worked as well as usual for a few months but now the power light has died and I have to turn it WAY up to get the same heat level as before it seems. Weird. Overall, I do not recommend the Vapolution. There are higher quality products available. It also seems to take forever to achieve the desired effect. I will end up puffing on a bowl for 5 or even 10 minutes because I keep blowing out vapor that tastes like crap after the first couple hits anyway. I don't want to waste anything, but I don't want to sit there forever just to get a little buzz. I want something quicker, better quality, and with the ability to share with more than 1 or 2 people. I find that it will easily turn herb BLACK if you don't have everything perfect. Think about it, they say it's so customizable in your method, but really, it's a BUNCH of shit to get right to make it work. You need the temp set right, the bowl packed right, the washer holding the bowl at the right height, the correct draw speed. I can't easily reproduce my experience ever. I ended up going back to smoking for a long time and finally ordered an SSV to quit smoking forever. See my SSV review to find out what I think about it. The all-in-wonder bowl sounded great, but really, the unit is not comfortable to hold up to your mouth like that. You need 2 hands to do it and it takes a long time to get everything out of a bowl so it becomes very annoying. Lately the whip hits have been so weak that I've been sticking the tube into my water pipe (filled with ice) and "filling" the chamber of the water pipe with vapor before clearing it. If your vapolution works, I'd recommend this method as "near satisfactory" I will post pics of my dissected Vapolution here when I receive my SSV. I'm still wrestling with it, hoping I won't have to go back to smoking before my SSV gets here.

Oh yeah, the power cord is messed up too. It has to be in just the right place near the unit or it won't work. Now that my power light is gone, I am starting to think that part of the temp control issue is moving the cord and losing power and therefore heat. Without the power light, I can't tell when it is heating for sure. I KNOW the heat doesn't work as well as it used to. Part of it I'm sure is the sand/mica insulation mix I have now, so maybe a little of the crappiness of my unit is my fault. Still, I stand firm in my non-recommendation of the vapolution. You can do better. I think the top center and bottom are made of like plaster of paris or something. The bottom broke pretty easily with a tap of a hammer. "Built like a tank" - my ass

Stoner Buck$$: 434.56 | Re: The Vapolution Vaporizer: A Review by BenTokin Ok, here they are. The promised pictures of the Vapolution ripped apart. I wish I had seen pics like these before I bought the unit.
So, here's the top. The center section cracked out when I tripped on the cord and it fell off the 18" high coffee table. Here's the bottom, that's a piece of a paper plate that I cut to fit the bottom and duct-taped on. The original bottom was made of the same stuff as the top center part (plaster of paris?). I hit the bottom with a hammer and it broke into chunks easily enough. I dumped out the mica insulation and held the test tube (heating area) in place while I superglued the top section back together. Then I filled it back up with mica and some sand (because I had lost some mica in the accident and didn't want to sweep up hair and stuff inside with the heater so I used plain old sand from outside. (NOTE: even without the sand, the temp knob grinds the mica into dust and the unit eventually kills itself, even if you don't move the temp knob very often like me. My first unit's temp knob did this much faster [i used the temp knob more at first] and it never had sand added to the insulation mix).
This is the bottom removed... You can see the mechanisms totally exposed to the insulation.
This is the insulation as close up as my camera's focus will allow. Mica. The reason the unit is so fat and round is because they needed that much space for the mica insulation so the unit's exterior wouldn't get too hot. They wanted to use mica (i'm guessing) because it is VERY lightweight, yet retains heat pretty well. | |

Stoner Buck$$: 434.56 | Re: The Vapolution Vaporizer: A Review by BenTokin Here is straight down inside the unit. Here you can see the little brads (nails) holding power switch in. Ghetto.... Another view inside.... And my hardly-ever-used-all-in-wonder-bowl..... Like I think I said earlier ( ) this is a decent model...for a prototype. I really looks like it's not quite done yet in my opinion. Vapolution 2.0 could really be great. This one is not. This is my opinion. Feel free to share yours.

I think the DBV by 7th floor is the best unit on the market under $250
The Da Buddah warms up in 2 min, it hits hard and is extremely eficient

If it's such a POS why did you use it for 2 years?
I used one for two years, and it did a good job. 12V makes it a good choice for overseas use and portability. All glass vapor path is nice too. You can take apart a lot of vapes and criticize the construction. You should see the vapor path in a $550 Super Vapezilla.
Your power cord problem was due to excessive flexing. It developed a bad connection. All 12V cords are small diameter and subject to this issue.
