the morel mushroom season has started here and so far its been a good one i have already found 3 pounds in just my first 3 days searching. for those who dont know morels are really great tasting mushrooms that only grow during the spring in wooded mossy type areas. they are very hard to find sometime but if you are an expert like myself you can find them by the pound. got a bunch of picture up check them out peace.

I've always wanted to go hunting! I'm a little leary - where do I go? Are there others that look like the morel? I know what they taste like (awesome) but that's not a good safe test, lol. And where do you sell them to?

And where do you sell them to? | just go out into the woods, it usually takes awhile to find the first mushroom but once u find it u start finding more, they like to grow in mossy areas and around dead trees. but they can pop up all over.
there is a false morel that does look like a real morel and its very toxic even to the touch, the thing that makes it different is its odd shape and red color. real morels have a more cone shape usually, false morels look like a rotten brain.
u will know when u have a real morel they are very distinctive, the most common in the states are the yellow and grey morels.
a lot of people sell them on the side of the road like a farmers market kinda thing, usually for $20-$30 a pound, i keep all the ones i find for myself because i love eating them so much.

check that out they got boards for all the local areas,
morels are known to grow dead elms, and other trees but i find them all over in the brush and sometimes even under dead grass, it just depends on the conditions, any wooded area could potentially have them, i know from talking to a few folks on these boards that morels are abundant in michigan. usually you have to get down on your hands and knees and focus your eyes and really look hard most of them are hidden under brush. but once you go to pick one up you often times will see more all around you that you didnt even see before. but you gotta go deep into the woods thats where they grow.
