Also a word of caution as the Marijuana is the Netherlands can be much stronger (higher thc %) than people are used to smoking and many do not smoke weed on a regular basis. Start out slow middle to bottom. Ego can get you here as most people think here in the USA that they have been smoking some "really good shit" while this can be true average thc of good/better weed most places is 8%-10% where as in Amsterdam its commonly 18%-24% at the top end. Most all levels can be found. My tip is to learn the difference betweem Sativa (uplifting happy, talkative) and Indica ( couch-lock, in a daze, zombified etc) before you go and start out lower % depending on how much, often and what you smoke at home. Leidseplein:/ also Spui- Rokerij
- Dampkring (famous for Oceans 12,EXTENSIVE Menu, I have had good service here) Gets crowded quick, get a seat an watch the crowds come & go) Listen to the budtender he knows what you'll like
- Rookies (large shop)
- Dolphins
- Mellow Yellow (not exactly Leidseplein but if you are going south go a little more)
- La Tertulia
- Twede Kamer
Just Say No The THe Bulldog Palace or ANY Bulldog for that matter. Ok to check out gift shoppe, but don't buy your weed here or try to get any good service. NO to Dutch Flowers Dam Square: - Amnesia (5* shop benchmark for all others)
- Grey Area (5 * weed, small, buy and fly, odd hours, never early)
- Abraxas (large & little hard to find, (3.5* weed, 4.5* stmosphere)
- Homegrown Fantasy (Very cool shop 4*)
- Magic Mushroom Gallery (Its a smartshop but its really cool )
Centraal Station - Barney's (The breakfast isnt what it once was,but its okay & weed 4*)
- Central (good 5g deals) good for coming in to town off the train (3.5*)
- Popeye's
- Sibere (get on the webcam if you are brave enough)
- Pink Floyd (now owned Dampkring) Big Menu
- Hill Street Blues
Red Light District/ Nieuw Markt - Old Church
- de Kuil aka 420 Cafe
- Greenhouse Centrum (the king of cannabis Arjan's place, winner of numerous cannabis cups, really strong weed in the Ultra Haze)
- Rusland ( as seen on Passport to Europe, with Samantha)
- Bluebird
- Basjoe (friendly place go find it)
- Rick's Cafe
I am sure there are ones I forgot, you tend to do that unless you keep notes. There are a few Shops I would avoid at all costs and they are below: Coffeeshops I would NOT go in: - Dutch Flowers, terrible service, absolute worst, rude
- Bulldog any of them commercail bullshit, poor service and smoke
- La Canna, Big shop tourist trap
- Free Adam
- Easy Times, hold on to your wallet walking by here
- Paradise, tourist trap
- The Noon
- Dread Rock
- Grasshopper
- Smokey
I am sure that some out there like one of these places, but usually when they do they have not been to many of the others on the above list. Each to their own preference, but odds are you will get better service, atmosphere and weed at the suggested shops. |

Stoner Buck$$: 50.62 | Re: AMSTERDAM HOTSPOTS I've been 4 times in the last 10 years(though not for the last 3), and I agree about avoiding the Bulldog to buy your weed. Though it's not a bad place to hang and meet people. Barney's was good last time I was there. Nothing like omelettes and bong hits. Abraxas was my favorite, good vibe and good coffee too.
Ya gotta hit one of the smart shops and then go to the Van Gogh museum. Take this advice, it's awesome! And go with the Hawaiian variety, very visual.
I can't remember too many of the bars, but there was this one Irish place, Tara, that had good food, and like a big old church pulpit and a nice fireplace area with big comfy chairs to light up and enjoy some pints. |

Stoner Buck$$: 559.81 | Re: AMSTERDAM HOTSPOTS goin back there this summer sometime, early april we think... assuming i have a job and can afford to go again lol...
i do remember another place, somewhere near the amstel hotel... wasnt a coffeeshop as such... more like a "drive-thru" sorta thing where u went in and bought your weed (i usually bought a couple of pre-rolled too) then left again, but although the guys that usually hung around the place looked kinda dodgy or suspect they were actually pretty nice guys an girls (and the guy behind the counter could fairly roll a fuckin quality joint too)... it also helps that the dutch really like the scottish too lol
