Hope you didn't get much of a storm and all. I saw some video on weather channel, storm looked pretty nasty in some areas.

Actually for it to look like that, it had to be above 32 degrees for the rain, then after the rain it went below 32 to freeze and ta-da the ice. So it appears bloody cold but its not too bad.
Bloody cold would be 0 or below, which it has been the last 2 weeks here in Minnesota and guess who has an outdoor job in the middle of the night at the coldest time of the day?
Not that I'm saying Iowa isnt cold.

Stoner Buck$$: 1,129.15 | Re: Ice Storm Pictures. actually it was exactly 32 degrees f when the rain was coming down and it was instantly freezing on the ground cause the ground was very cold cause it was very cold the last few weeks and we already had about 4-5 inches of snow on the ground. we got probably about 3 inches of rain during the ice storm most of it froze instantly on the ground but some of it pooled up and then froze that night when it got down to 16 degrees. was impossible to get out of my driveway.
it will get down to zero here eventually always does at some point. usually january is the coldest month in iowa. and thats when we get the blizzards. |

My town was labeled a disaster area, 6000 people with no power, in freezing cold weather. The Ameren trucks looked like FEMA rolling through town.
All is good now the power for the most part has been restored.

Stoner Buck$$: 1,129.15 | Re: Ice Storm Pictures. they estimated that about 23,000 people were without power here in southeast iowa. still thats nothing compared to what its like down in oklahoma and parts of missouri and kansas. and compared to the ice storm we had back in February where we lost power for over a day and over 200,000 people were without power here in iowa. we got lucky this year.
thanks hunny i got more pics to put up just havnt gotten around to it i got some pictures of the ice melting from today. i will upload them here when i am not too lazy. lol |

Stoner Buck$$: 1,713.95 Tournaments Won: 3 | Re: Ice Storm Pictures. Oh most of those estimated 6000 had no power for 3 days (Sunday morning to Wednesday morning). All the hotel rooms where full, and out of a town of bout 20,000. It was close to half the town with no power.
