Ahhh etiquette. I like that it exists, shows consideration for others. It's always been burn - burn, crunch and burn for me. But conservation is an art in itself.

Usually I only light from the sides as a form of etiquette when my friends are smoking too...but I notice myself doing it more and more in passing (riding to the U, before class). Idk, I guess it kind of assimiliated itself into my lifestyle. Plus you get more hits, so totally worth it.
I start on the opposite side of myself, then work my way around the bowl in a counterclockwise rotation. I don't know why, but I've always done it this way. This way gives me multiple green hits, and the last green hit in the middle is always the best.
