Stoner Buck$$: 270.96 | Shrooms. Should I?
Hey there. I'm new to the forums, just signed up this evening, but I've been smoking for about six and a half years. I've never tried anything other than weed, roxies, and alcohol, though I've been looking into some hallucinogens recently, specifically shrooms.
Now, I know this isn't exactly a shrooms forum, but all of the message boards I've stumbled upon were rather sketchy, and this was the first place I've seen that's decently legit, plus my friend posts on here too, so I figured I'd give it a shot.
Anyway, back to the point. I have around five or six friends, give or take, who have tried these nasty little bastards, the vast majority of whom say it was a blast. I've been asked to try it on numerous occasions, though it's never looked tempting enough to do them when given the chance; it's usually more relaxing to sit back and burn a jay than dive into an entirely new experience when I'm around a bunch of crazy people doing stupid shit.
Now, I've been giving it a lot of though, and after much persuasion by my rather attractive romantic interest, I think I might be ready to try them, but only under the right conditions with the right people.
My question to you all is: is it really worth it? From what I've heard, you can see and feel some great things, and it looks like people are always having fun when under the influence of them, but others who have had trips not quite up to par with the others say they've had some rough times. Plus, from the looks of it, it's something with a bit of recoil, since everyone says that once they've done it, they don't want to try it again for a long time.
Again, should I?

Weather you should or not is of course up to you. Set and setting are your most important factors. If you're with people you trust (not too many) in a setting you're comfortable with (and will be comfortable for the next 8-10 hrs) go for it. If there are going to be people in and out, with unpredictable moods and friends, I would say don't, not for the first time anyway. If you can keep the surrounding area calm and happy, along with people you like. I say go for it. Don't forget to relax, that sounds cliche I know but it's ridiculously important to relax.

You have to want to zoom. If you have any regret you might go in to a dark place thats hard to get out of.

Do it. Its fun.
Abide all the precautions mentioned here(except downgrade ospreys timescale to 5-8 hours...), and as in all things, use your own good judgment.
Magic mushrooms are a very interesting drug, and with the endorphin rush they generate, your pretty much guaranteed to have a good time. I suggest you and your lovely female companion seclude yourselves away for the evening and enjoy this wondrous drug together.
One more piece of advice: Yerba Mate and Ginger Tea. Or at least the ginger.
The reason: Shrooms can and often do cause nausea, ginger tea helps combat this in a big way. Shrooms also take a lot of energy out of you(unlike acid, which seems to stimulate the body), the yerba mate helps keep you perked up to enjoy your trip.

Personally shrooms is somethin i wouldnt do frequently, but if you want my honest opinion i think its a good thing to try. ive done it once and id do it again under the right circumstances. biggest thing is your environment and your mindset going into it. be with chill people, chill atmosphere etc. and go into it ready to just let go and have fun. chill. let it ride. enjoy it.

Ok man hears the deal. DO IT! seriously bro i would highly recomend it, my only full blown trip was this summer and i was a little apprehensive myself but now that i finally did them i think they are not only an amazing experience but in my opinion i think everyone should do them. like they're fun because of all the visuals but the best part is they put you in a mindstate where its easier to see past all the trivial bullshit we put ourselves through everyday, and you're not out of your mind so you can actually ponder these things. its hard to explain without writing a fuckin essay but it was very pleasurable and profound. BUT you gotta control your environment thats key, your mindstate is in a really different place where it cant really tolerate a whole lot of stress or negativity. All the bad trips you hear people having are cuz something in their environment messed with them, negative music, TV, two many people around, negative people, etc. Id recommend getting a friend or two, positive friends, (I personally wouldnt do shrooms for the first time with a new romantic interest just cuz you might start to worry about making a good impression or whatever)and going somewhere outdoors on a nice day away from people where you can walk around and explore nature and just have a peaceful place where you make your experience and where nobody you dont want to be there is going to affect it, trust me on this nature part. Man you really cant go wrong if you do that. I hope this is useful bro, happy trippin

Stoner Buck$$: 1,208.16 My Mood : | Re: Shrooms. Should I? welcome to stonerforums! enjoy the site, lots of good info and people here. that being said.... i think shrooms are amazing, they do take alot out of me and sometimes make me a little depressed or weird the next day if i have an intense trip which is why i wouldn't do them all the time, but taking the day to relax, smoke and chill is the perfect remedy for that! make sure you want to do them, don't let yourself be persuaded if u really aren't into it. be in a good general mindset, happy, no big stressful events in ur life. i was super nervous the first time and was a little unsure of what would happen but i was with a friend i trusted, a huge chill music library, and some incense. ate our mushies and smoke a big fat blunt while waiting for them to kick in. it was amazing and i've done them a bunch since then. also i did alot of reading up about them so i'd have some general idea what to expect Erowid Psilocybin Mushroom (Psychedelic / Magic Mushrooms) Vault erowid has lots of info about mushies, from how it feels to stories of peoples experiences and it helped me before i did them the first time. i love to trip, when the time is right. its a barrel of laughs. hope this helps and keep us updated if you end up trying them! in the meantime happy smoking and enjoy SF

The answer is yes. Great fun. Amazing. You might get some gut rot the next day and/or after you come down. I've never really gotten it too bad but I some folks who have. But yeah, it's worth it.

I've had this thread on my mind for a while. I can see here most of you have never had a bad trip. I have. I will never touch those fuckers again. They fucked me up. The way i think, how i see the world. It was like a nightmare that never ended. I've only tripped six times each time on an 1\8th. Just remember they CAN change you.

Personally, I do not believe anyone should admonish or glorify mushrooms (or any other herb for that matter) themselves; their use, and the rewards and/or consequences thereafter are entirely dependent on YOU. Let me explain.
While my dabbling in psychedelics (and drugs in general) began, like many, with the discovery of marijuana, I immediately thought, wow, the applications of psycoactives are boundless. I began to look further into my curiousity of anthropology and found the many purposes the ancestors used them for: not for 'tripping out' or for 'getting shitfaced', but to transcend the material plane in search for knowledge or divination. Yes, there will always be the shallow functions of mind-altering substances, and there will always be those that pursue them.
What I'm trying to say, and am dancing around a bit on account of my state of mind, is that your approach determines the practicality of the plant. Be it DMT, LSA, psilocibyn, or LSD -I've experienced them all. The key is open-mindedness, and the desire to learn from your experience. And approach them in just that way: as an experience. Do not expect one thing or another, only expect to LEARN. It will change you as a person, neither positively or negatively, but it will reveal to you a process of thought and being that you would have otherwise been blind to. Should you take them to 'freak out' then you inevitably end up with a short-term, volatile lesson about yourself. Either way your experience will be introspective.
There's little else I can express. Research the plant, find out just what kind of mushrooms they are (each has their own place in this world, and their own effects on us), and at least consider the intrinsic purpose for which they were founded. Then make your decision, not based on the opinions of another.
Then again, you could consume them with the brash irresponsibility that is inherent in so much of mankind, and become just one sheep among the noncommital flock. After all, that is how mankind erected this concrete jungle which surrounds us -without considering the implications.
