We just got a huge snow storm here in Salt Lake City, enough for the ski resorts to open up all their runs finally, and I can't wait to finally go skiing. I just bought some new snow pants, and I'm able to get lift tickets for half price this winter, and now it's just a matter of having a day off and getting up the mountain.
There's nothing better than skiing some fresh powder, then taking a little smoke break in the cover of some snow covered trees, or a smoke shack built into the side of the mountain. I love it.

Well color me jealous. I've skied three times and LOVED it.. but being from Illinois, there aren't too many BIG places around here you can ski. I want to go down a slope for more than two minutes at a time... stupid tiny ski place.
I used to ski a lot when I was younger (13-19), tried snowboarding but I had a crappy teacher....stopped Skiing and snowboarding about 8 years ago, blew my knee out 6 years ago so I don't know how well it would be for skiing and snowboarding anymore.
I used to be a pretty good skier too, took on the moguls and the jumps and even went on the half pipe once. Its been a long time I don't think I could do the jumps and moguls anymore, oh well I'll get out there again sometime

I'm a skier, been skiing for 30 years, to old to start snowboarding.. I lived in Winter Park Colorado for a year and taught in their handicap ski program for 3 years for a free pass back in the 80's.. I also lived at Brian Head resort in southern Utah for a season, incredible snow...
I loved the moguls, still do, but these aging legs don't have many bump runs left, so I've become a happy cruiser
Actually these days, if I have a free day in the winter, with the price of lift tix, I'll sometimes go ice fishing instead..

I grew up in Illinois. Hah, I skied once in Galena, IL during college, and I absolutely HATED it! It was the first time I ever skied, it was a sheet of ice, and I didn't know how to turn! I took an intermediate run after getting too confident on the bunny hill, and that was a mistake. Since I couldn't really turn, I was fastly picking up speed as I was going down, so I just tucked and went down like a rocket! I just concentrated on not falling, I was terrified! There was also a small stream running parallel to the very end just past the lift and I didn't want to fall into it so I made myself wipe out at the bottom in order to avoid it. I was freaked out and determined never to go down again!
After I was done with college, my boyfriend and I moved to Utah after getting a job online at a ski resort. It was a big jump for me, but I wanted to really learn how to ski and knew it would be a cool adventure. It was the funnest and best winter of my life. I got to ski at least 6 days a week, and by the end of the season I was able to ski any square inch of that mountain. And everyone up there smoked weed like crazy. I even toked up with my bosses at least once a week.
When I move back to the midwest someday, I sort of want to check out the local ski resorts and laugh at how easy that very first run I ever took was! I could probably ski it backwards now.

i been to sundown mountain in dubuque iowa its not very big really just more of a big mississippi river bluff but there is some good skiing there in the winter time plus they got some ramps and a couple obstacle courses. pretty nice place. ai heard galena illinois has a pretty nice ski slope.
I live in MA so i often take day trips with friends and sometimes my dad up to NH to ski Gunstock, Waterville, also usaully for a couple of days each year we rent a condo in NH and ski all different places, it is my favorite hobby and makes the new england winter alot more enjoyable
over 450 inches of snow here in Steamboat, CO this year. Was a ski and snowboard paradise. Funnest thing to do on a mountain is snowboard, heck, funnest thing to do outdoors. besides relax and toke.
