7/6/2007 - 01:05(EST) USA and Guatemala are set to kick off Group B

The ninth edition of the CONCACAF Gold Cup will have as its main attraction the USA – Guatemala games, which opens Group B play.
7/JUN/2007 – The game will take place in Carson, where they will meet again this year for the second time, this is after their March 28 game in Frisco, Texas.
That game ended 0 – 0. That was an excellent result for the team led by Hernán Darío Gómez, because this was the first tie the U.S. had given up at home since Bob Bradley took over.
As a result of this the Stars and Stripes lost their winning streak, after posting victories against Denmark, México, and Ecuador. The U.S. will look to post a win Thursday night against the “Chapines”.
The U.S. arrives as one of the favorites, not because they host the tournament but because they have never been eliminated in the first round in any of the five the eight CONCACAF Gold Cups they have participated in. They have won the tournament three times (1991, 2002 Y 2005).
This will be the eighth CONCACAF Gold Cup participation for Guatemala, who are looking to make it to the final for the first time. Their best finish was a fourth place finish in 1996.

Well the US won 1-0 with a goal by Dempsey what a physical match got to love that but BS officiating.Next match Saturday against Trinidad-Tobago at 4est

Sweet team USA won 2-0 over TnT advance to the second round with this win still have one more group match on Tuesday against El Salvador.

And congrats to Landon Donovan for becoming USA top points leader with 85 points on a asst. to Eddie Johnson many more great years to come still from Donovan.

USA USA USA!!!

Not a big soccer fan but a huge sports fan in general. Probably would enjoy soccer more if I had been exposed to it growing up. Anyway, nice to see Team USA moving along. I certainly like to see them do well.

Team USA beat Mexico today 2-1 to win their 4th Gold Cup way to go USA
They also get a seat in the fifa champions cup tournament in Africa
