hi... great topic
I think everyone has the ability, we just don't tap into it... but if we are talking about those that are aware, and can actually read minds... I think it would be lower than 20%
I think the percentage of those who feel something more is possible is high and growing all the time.

That I would have to agree with. I'm a decent individual, as I would assume most of the folks on here are. However, there are things that go on in my head that no one would care to know and that would probably threaten someones sense of decency. Wooo. . .

Yes it's getting more and more common all the time in my experence, especially around people who take drugs as they can open you to such things, it can be quite scary for alot of people though, thoughts have always been very private things.
It's even possible for a good telepathist to put thoughts in someone elses head thus influencing their actions.
Someone told me that they think that as man kind is increasingly storing information externaly (ie. computers and teh internet) the minds of many are being freed up to be able to do other things, including perceive things that they couldn't before.
With the internet as well of course the knowledge of it gets passed around more too.

Jesus while healing a man "deserned the thoughts" of the the pharasees and answered their questions.
I have the "gift" of desernment and have "deserned the thoughts" of others. But sometimes it is distorted. It can be distorted by bitterness, fears or past wounds not to mention preconcieved ideas.
put that in your pipe and smoke it

Reading body language and making inferential guesses based upon contextual cues isn't telepathy. Telepathy violates the laws of physics and doesn't exist.

I think it's possible. I don't think people realize they are doing it though. I think if you know a person well enough you know what they are going to do and u unconciously think it before they do it. Like the other night me and my fiance were watching tv, and I got up and got her pipe and a bag of weed and she was standing up when i come back in the room and said damn i was just about to do that. She doesn't smoke that often so me doing that I didn't know a certain pattern she had and didn't intentionally know that she was about to go get it. Things like this happen a lot. I can think something like I want lasagna for dinner and get home from work to find her cooking lasagna. Now if i can figure out how to think damn I want some booty and she jump my bones i'll be on a roll |

Well......being raised the way I was, I believe ANYTHING is possible. However I do also believe that most of our accurate (guesses, if you will) stems from the fact the we have become proficient at reading body language and facial expressions. That's not to say there aren't persons that have the gift, but it has been my experience to date. Im damn good at reading people, but it comes from my study of the human condition.
Now to reiterate, I do believe all things are possible and it is a well known fact that we (humans) have yet to tap into our brains that we have not yet learned to access. SO in conclusion, I think its just a matter of time, evolution, etc, before we do use telepathy, among other things, by using our, as yet untapped brain power.

Originally Posted by cresentcrow I do believe all things are possible and it is a well known fact that we (humans) have yet to tap into our brains that we have not yet learned to access. | There is the myth people don't use all of their brain capacity, a myth which may have originated from Dale Carnegie. There are charlatans such as Uri Geller and Deepak Chopra who perpetuate the myth people only use five, ten, or fifteen percent of the brainand "if only" we used more of it then, in the words of Deepak Chopra, "new pathways of experience open up and we begin to reclaim more of our infinite nature," such as telepathy. This is simply untrue. While only a small percentage of the brain is active at any given moment, since the brain is compartmentalized towards specialized functions, all of the brain is used throughout the course of the day. The brain also consumes a vast amount of energy (from nutrition) and it makes no sense from an evolutionary perspective for the brain to have evolved its large size, high energy requirements, to then flounder it.
All brain functions are electrical activities and all electromagnetic fields operate by the inverse-square law. The electromagnetic field generated by the brain is non-existent by the time you reach the skin. This categorically rules out the possibility of telepathy in the past, the present, and the future. It's not literally true "anything is possible." Of course, there are technological attempts to read the mind and science is making some progress in that department, but in no regard should that suggest humans have the biologically-based ability for telepathy. |
