The new sins are as follows: Mortal sin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - Environmental pollution
- Genetic manipulation
- Accumulating excessive wealth
- Inflicting poverty
- Drug trafficking and consumption
- Morally debatable experiments
- Violation of fundamental rights of human nature
I especially want to know the thoughts of our christian members, would you stop smoking pot or cigarettes, or stop drinking alchohol and any other drugs (which technically include prescription pills) that you may take all because your religious leaders say it's bad all of a sudden?
Any opinions from non-religious people are also of course welcome and wanted, what impact do you think this will have on society as a whole? | Howdy Wesley,
I would not stop smoking weed,it's a plant-not a drug..and for any religious person to tell me that God didn't know what He was doing when He made marijuana,is akin to blasphemy in my book.
I'll take advice from preachers, but I will make the final decision on whether or not to follow it. That also includes what their definition of sin is,and whether or not, I'll agree to such or not.
Have a good one ...

Also those people that have faith in there church and what they say probably doesn't have a problem with it. As far as people getting upset in the world over things the catholic would say sounds like a personal problem to me. anyhow that my two cents

I say that a pill is a pill, and that a bag of dried flowers,is a bag of dried flowers..not a drug..a drug is manufactured, marijuana is a plant with pychoactive and medicinal properties.

As you can see, under the federal law definition, they have perverted the meaning to include 'substance'..which is a means to justify their prohibiton against marijuana and other plants-it's legal tom-foolery,because until the active 'substance ' is extracted,it's still a plant..and not a chemical substance..which is and should be,the true definition of what is a drug.
Do ya extract the thc from yer weed, before ya toke it ?
Have a good one ...

Stoner Buck$$: 556.37 | Re: New Church Sins and possible Impacts on Society pot is a drug, no matter how you look at it... ask a catholic priest, i'm sure he'll agree...
"a chemical substance used in the treatment, cure, prevention, or diagnosis of disease or used to otherwise enhance physical or mental well-being"
sounds like cannabis to me.... thc is a chemical substance, a drug, and seeing how you argued that you don't take out the thc before smoking you basically shot yourself in the foot because it's thc that we all smoke pot for, it doesn't matter that it's "inside" a plant, you still have to burn the pot to release the thc (unless digested of course)...
but the point is thc is a chemical substance which alters someones state of mind.... i.e. a drug.

Stoner Buck$$: 93.86 | Re: New Church Sins and possible Impacts on Society Wes hit it on the nose, just because its still in plant form doesn't make it any less of a drug. The only way anyone has perverted the word drug is when they gave it negative connotations.
Consider this, by your definition, if I smoke pot, its not a drug, because its in a plant(which is silly, because you extract the THC from the drug when you smoke it), but if I cook it into brownies, its has now magically transcended into being a drug? Thats just silly.

I look at it this way, ain't nobody gonna git me to call a plant a drug or redefine what a drug is,in order to put people in jail..are ya gonna call an apple a drug, because it has vitamin C in it ? Are ya gonna walk up to an asperin tree and call it a drug ?
As for brownies, putting weed into em,is just adding a spice..it doesn't change from being a spice into a drug.
Don't let the dea narcs define for you, what is a drug and what isn't..they're just trying to justify their paycheck and redefining the meaning of what is a drug and what isn't,what it is- is goverment out of control.
Have a good one ...

Stoner Buck$$: 751.28 | Re: New Church Sins and possible Impacts on Society Im not gonna call it a drug because some government proclaimed it a drug. I agree with Torog, it grows wild, you dont gotta add anything to it, its as natural as snow. Sounds like you guys believe your governments a little too much. Sure its a drug by their definition. What is a drug? A word, that is all. I tend to believe its a plant. Same with coffee. Who proclaimed caffeine a "drug"? Some goverment funded scientist, that's who.
Now cooking some cocaine in a baby food jar with some baking soda to make crack, thats a dangerous substance, lets call that a drug.
Saddens me to see two potheads actually admit that marijuana is a drug, truly it does, no wonder we cant win this war against this beautiful plant and all this silliness of people being persecuted for taking a natural growing medicine. Whats the sense if the potheads are on the bad guy's side?

Aint no government gonna keep me from my medicine . It's 1000X times safer than the crap the doctor tries peddling on me every time I see him, and I know where the ingredients came from.

Stoner Buck$$: 556.37 | Re: New Church Sins and possible Impacts on Society cocaine is a plant also, you gonna tell me that it's not a drug now just because it grows naturally?
and don't argue that it's got to be processed by man because a cannabis plant does not burn by nature, you have to burn it manually (or in other words "process" it) just like cocaine or herion...
i think the problem here lies in the fact that none of you are willing to call it a drug just because you regularly partake of it... a coke-head will say the exact same thing... that it's a plant made by god... so what makes cannabis any different... just because it's a less strenious way to process it? i don't think so
i smoke it but i KNOW it's a drug, i KNOW it stimulates certain chemicals in my brain, I KNOW it's illegal by government and religious law... anyone who thinks different is either stupid or lying to themselves.
