What you should do to avoid this is meditate for about 10/15 minutes, quarter of an hour, before you get high. Not longer, it'll fix your mental state and will affect the high a little. You're just looking for it giving you a bit of clarity and focus. Once the first high has peaked and you're slipping back a little, meditate again; you're far less likely to fall asleep.

Back in the day (old fart prologue, here), Trancendental Meditation was popular. It was developed by the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Hindu in origin, and intended to make meditative techniques more accessible to the western masses..IOW the Micky D's of meditation.

In the late sixties it caught on. Among the Maharishi's disciples were the Beatles, the Beach Boys, Peter Fonda and other celebrities. Most eventually abandoned it (John Lennon wrote a sarcastic song about it: "Sexy Sadie"), but it is still around.

The technique involves sitting (mostly) still, closing your eyes, and repeating your mantra repeatedly in your thoughts. Let your mind go where it will and when you notice your mantra is gone, gently bring the repeating of it back to your thoughts. Do it twice a day, 15 - 20 minutes each time.

It cost me $120.00 to learn it in the mid-1970's. To prepare for induction, I had to swear off weed, alcohol and other drugs for several weeks, which I dutifully did. Prior to that I had been a sunup to sundown toker for several years. I had been struggling in school (barely eking out a BS), had just gotten married, and felt somewhat directionless with my life.

Don't know if it was giving up the weed, or the meditation, or some combination thereof, but I went back to school, got excellent grades in a worthwhile program, got a good job (I'm still with the same employer), and am still grateful that I learned TM, although I seldom do it these days.

After the first several months of doing it, I decided I want to toke again. Then I wanted to see what it was like doing TM while buzzed.

It was quite remarkable. It seemed as if my trance-like state got much deeper than it ever had before, and my body felt like a big gong (not bong) resonating with deep bell-like tones as I breathed. It was almost scary. In fact, I haven't meditated while under the influence since then...

i try to use it in every waking moment, or at least most of it

i have been lacking with the concentrative meditations, which makes me sad

however, it makes me glad that i have more time for music, poetry, visual arts, and great mountain orgies

Yeah, meditating while high is a real buzz. Probably my favourite thing to do while stoned, that and jamming on my geetar. I don't have any particular methods (for meditation, that is. Or for the guitar either come to that ), just to sit there for a bit.

What I find helps against the tiredness setting in (and this is probably different for everyone) is to widen my eyes and make exaggerated blinks. Try it out, it cant hurt. Unless your eyes pop out, in which case it would probably hurt like hell!

lol. thats funny. I think I will try these methods, I once looked at a few websites on how to meditate and I think I wasent stoned, but if I had been I could imagine how nice it would be. lol. good idea everyone.

meditating while high, for me, is one of the things to do. It's nice to just clear your mind and get away from the world and all of its problems. just a nice little escape from reality=] and it totally kicks up ur high, at least for me.

On really nice days I like to sit outside on my patio, put my head back and bathe in the sun. I clear my head of all thoughts except for the feeling of the sun warming my face. It is the most cleansing feeling, and really enhances my high. Wow, I wish I could do that everyday. Its amazing how comforting and relaxing it is. I would like to call it some sort of meditation.
Maybe mindfulness is a better word!

yeah, me too, I love to get high and meditate in my garden patio, I sit there and look at my plants and start to figure them out,... I dont know if it is a coincidence that when I started smoking I became better gardener :P , I love to sit there and watch the sunset, listening how the palm tree rocks with the wind :P
