Can anyone tell me what type of soil to use for an outdoor grow?!
My buddy and I have tried several times in the last few years, each time the plants are planned a little better, in a sneakier spot, perfect sunlight and grow a little larger and healthier each time.

The only problem that has been keeping us from a successful grow has to be the soil we've been using.

The first year we were completely ignorant to growing and tried using the soil from the woods.

Second year we tried some miracle grow or some other fertilized plant food.

Third year we tried organic potting soil and still we haven't been able to keep a crop alive.

We already have planned how to get water to them and the area basks in direct sunlight almost all day long and we already have planned how to repel bunnies and deer and whatever other adorable woodland creatures are out to eat my buds, including insects.

Back then I didn't know about SF so I couldn't really ask anyone about this, any help would be appreciated. I'm trying to plan early for next year and get this shit right. Thanks again!

I recommend using some organic potting soil, something similar to Fox Farm Ocean Forest. also, you need to fertilize your plants after they have been in the soil for like a month, about once a week.

also, another thing.. the plants dont have to be in DIRECT sunlight for the whole light cycle- they will actually grow better if you can shade them from the sun at like 12 PM ( noon) until about 2PM-4PM... reason being is this is the most intense sunlight- so intense your plant will only become stunted & not be able to absorb all the sunlight and will just hault its growth, making it hard for the plant to make productive use of all that light.

If your using different soil i suggest digging a hole, sink a pot into it and grow it in there, if you are just replace the soil with good soil, surrounding plants will draw up the goodness too.

Smokey, That is a good idea, we have done that the last two tries. The seeds are germinated in a wet paper towel. Then we take classic red party cups and fill them with the soil after poking a hole in the bottom for drainage and plant the seed and dig each one its own hole.

They never get large enough to need a larger pot (We have them ready). Something always happens.

This year I WILL do it damnit! lollll thanks again.

I used Fox Farm for several grows & loved the results.

Outdoor Growing Is Pretty Much Trail And Error To Much Sunlight Will Kill Them Not Enough Will Kill Them And As For Soil My Advice Is Unless The Soil In Your Area Is Really Shit Just Work Your Soil A Bit. And Don't Put Your Plants In The Ground Till There A Couple Of Months Old Keep Em In Pots For A While They Will Have More Chance Of Survival Then.

i use organic as well though i use "roots Organics" soil. plenty of great stuff in it and the grow seems a bit perkier than my last ones prob. about = 2 fox farm if not a tad bit better.
