Hey whats up, im a part-time grower and ive encountered a problem i never have before.
Im growin in a closet in soil and i started out watering with root stimulator and now im watering with all purpose plant and tomatoe food. I also have co2 in there with it, well heres the problem it grew very green healthy lookin quickly and now at the base, where the stem goes in the dirt, its white and very weak, a chop stick and mounded dirt around the stem is the only thing holding it up! Can i fix this?

Also the Tips of the leaves are curling down slightly. I water it once a day and its in a 3 gallon container? It stays around 80 degrees and has an average of 42-48% relative humidity. is it too much water or high ph?

The first thought I had was possibly pythium. If you can look at the roots (assuming there's enough to hold everything together) - they should be white. You're probably watering them too much, you need to let the soil dry out some before watering again (also promotes root growth by forcing them to grow in search of more water). You don't want them bone dry.

A 3 gallon container with 50% humidity and temps at 80 would be about every 2 to 3 days for me.

Wanted to add some pics. The first is what they look like when you go too long between water - similar to too much water. You can tell if it's too much or too little by the amount of time since last watering and there's going to be a big difference in weight between the two. Second pic is 2.5 hours later, they're recovering already.

It's much easier to correct mistakes when they're on the "not enough" side than too much.

thanks for the help man, makes sense ive been watering once a day. the drainage may not be as good as i thought.

With your whole stem problem try putting a fan in your closet simulating wind will make your stems stronger and try giving them a little overdose of potassiumit will help

Sorry no pics. thanks for all the guesses, it helped. but from the desrciption i got several diagnoses and treated it by not watering for 2 days and mounding dirt around the stem up to the first set of preleaves with the added help of the chop stick. I did add a fan and with all that it seems to be doing much better, though i have not exposed the "effected" portion of the stem since.
