Great Song Lu .... I've never heard of him before today ... but being an Irish folk singer , I would imagine he has lots of life stories, filled with both difficult and joyful times ... at least that comes through in his voice, the look in his eyes .... and through the lyrics ....
Thanks for sharing

Donnie, glad you liked him. This man is legend here, his concerts are sell outs months before he plays. Yet he still does pub and hotel gigs, really small venues - I saw him last in the Headford Arms in Kells, tiny place......awesome gig.
He so doesn't give a shit, speaks and sings his mind and at a time when papers were reluctance to give the church bad press, this man made sure to sing all the relevant songs on national media.......broadcasts like the LateLate Show....aired live from RTE on a Friday night, we're talking major family institution. Love him. He rocks.
Midsummer Solstice me arse btw.
I'm home to change out of soggy clothes, it hasn't stopped raining since 5am........... mud anyone?

lol
I will put Christy on my "must see in Ireland before I die " list ...
Sorry about that weather ... I am in the midst of a perfect day ...high about 80 F (you can do the Centigrade math) ... I was getting coffee at sunrise ..... biking around all day ... and after grilling some steaks ... I'll probably head to the beach for a sunset ...
Donnie

80f sounds gorgeous, wish we could've had a bit of that yesterday. It lashed, thundered and was generally a poxy day weatherwise. Heavy security presence on the hill didn't help much with the atmosphere either, roll on Samhain
Hope you had a wonderful sunset x[+]x
Christy's a good one to see Donnie, I've never been disappointed. This man is the only artist I know who could sellout the Point Depot (cap.8,500) for 10 consecutive nights and then do a gig in some ballroom down in the arsehole of Ballygobackwards.
I posted this song the other night and then got Smokey to delete it because I thought it was too depressing. But on reflection it should be here. It's a song written about a terrible and tragic event that happened in 1984 only 50miles from where I was living and attending school. I was 16 at the time and the girl in question was 15.........so it's something that stayed with me and also really marked a turning point in the hold the Catholic Church had on this country.
That's a very sad story and painful to read ... I can not imagine what the country went through at the time ... While time may heal ... time also allows the lessons of the past to be forgotten ...
Thank you for this reminder ...

Thanks Donnie, Tee... I'm glad to be able to share him with yous. We've sang his songs since we were kids and so alot of memories are tied up with Christy Moore's music.
Ok one more, for all our noble Irish brothers and sisters in far off places. This song was written by his brother Barry, we know him as Luka Bloom.
