If anyone has knowledge of the existance of good metal bands, let me know.
I am constantly trying to expand my library, can never have enough metal.

Ayreon. It's more like progressive metal, but it's really good, in my opinion the best rock made these days. Every album is a story, with characters(each voiced by a different singer) and the storyes of all the albums intertwine to make a larger story, and the music is just so trippy (in my oppinion) you just listen to it differently every time you do(mostly while hi)and it's all really crazy. I could praise Ayreon for most of the night, but I will not, cause that would be annoying(Into the Electric Castle and 01011001 are awesome).
Primus is also really crazy, cause the main instrument is the base, and what a basist, by the way.
There's also Liquid Tension Experiment, it's instrumental, but the members are all mind boggingly excelent musicians. I mean, some songs are 20 minute long with huge solos of every instrument and it's just crazy.
If you're into the heavier stuff, Opeth and Turisas are good as well.
Ever heard of music adiction?

Soil, Drowning Pool and Godsmack are quite good too. Probably more 'rock' than 'metal', but who cares? They're good anyway.

How about Amon Amarth, Children of Bodom, or Dethklok? They're pretty sweet, though their music is mostly from their show Metalocalypse. I also really like Tool and Nine Inch Nails.

I agree with all of the above, except for the godsmak (good stage show but underutilized band members.)
Behemoth, Aborted, Angelcorpse, At the Gates, and Bloodbath are always awesome.

Listen to Death
They changed my life :O
i started listen to them freshmen year and it was one of the best descisions of my life.
If you like thrashier bands like morbid angel, or obituary, listen to their earlier cds like leprosy and spiritual healing or scream bloody gore.
but if you like bands like children of bodom or nevermore definately listen to their last four CDS
that reminds me, you should definately check out Nevermore (dont let the name through you off), they vaguely remind me of a power metal version of Maiden.
O! ya check out Iron Maiden, Megadeth, and Judas Priest fro sho.
on the off chance that you would like to get into death metal, (my specialty) i would recomend Cannibal Corpse, Decrepit Birth, Inveracity, Deeds of Flesh, Skinless, Nile, Necrophagist (great guitar player, but some riffs are boring/repetative, check em out tho) and others i cant remember.
and theres a band called warscythe
they are local (just started playin shows) but if things keep goin the way they are goin i assure you, they are gonna be big(for metal standards, at least)
They have a fast drummer, memorable, sometimes melodic riffs, and insane guitar solos which often bring me to tears.
myspace.com/warscythemetal
and also theres Deicide, which is great if you are pissed, and atheist. its real simple heavy music with brutal vocals cursing god. if your religious this music will make your ears bleed.
id also like to mention an old favorite of mine, Lord Gore. they are real brutal.
and if you are listening to death metal for the first time, you should make sure to a:have and open mind on the vocals, and B: open mind on the drumming.
death meatl doesnt instantly attract people (in my experiance) it really just grows on you, i used to hate both gutteral vocals and blastbeats but now i cream my pants when i hear it.
well i hope i gave some sort of advice, have fun and stay metal. \m/
P.S. try listening to mentally blind. by death, off of individual thought patterns baked
its not a mind blower but it puts me in the best mood every time

you cant deny he has a great voice(for metal) even if you dont approve of gay people
btw not tryin to preach here but you might want to think about what you say about other people, because one of your best friends might be a closet case and you wouldnt even know. (not that thats an argument, but you might want to just think about it.)
sure straight people dont understand gay people (i think its weird myself) but thats no reason to discriminate, how miserable would you be if gay people ruled the earth and hated on you for looking for someone who makes YOU happy, after all, nobody chooses to be gay its genetic or some shit like that.
and is hating another person because they are differant will
a: put you in a bad mood
b:waste energy
c:might make you look ignorant to others, like people you might want to get to know better.
i understand how people would put down other people, cus it makes you feel better(ive done it plenty of times myself :/ ), but wouldnt you rather live above that sort of thing? in my short life experiance i think its a lot easier to just not care about things that you dont like about some one and just focus on having fun.
btw i realize that i totally just preached my ass off -.- sorry
but w.e man i hope you can learn to live w.o that sort of shit
it makes life so much fuckin easier

it makes life so much fuckin easier | Ahem.....you don't know me obviously.
First of all I have nothing against gay people, some of my close friends are gay and I love them to death....both male and female.
Secondly, I personally don't believe homosexuality is genetic, its a choice, but I'm not going to get into that discussion.
Third, its HEAVY METAL dude! If it was something like Queen, or INXS or some type of rock...I wouldn't care, but its Heavy metal, that screams hetrosexuality more than most genres of music.
Fourthly (is that a word?) I'm Deaf, and I have ADHD, so if you wanna talk about people putting others down, I've lived my whole life with people either using me as the butt of their jokes or making my life hell just because I'm Deaf or just because I can't sit still and do things that even I don't understand why I do them. I really could care less what others think of me, not because I'm ignorant and rude, but because I've put up with other people's crap all my life I just choose to not care what people, other than my close friends and a select few people, think of me.
Last of all, get to know me, 90% of my posts and replies are sarcastic and meant to be jokes.
nice speech by the way, GLADD would be proud of you
