I've been digging this band from the UK, The Answer. They're good rock, I'm pretty stoked they have a new album coming out next year (Rise). My boy at fontana was rockin' their stuff while we were hanging out one day. Give it a listen The Answer The Answer
They kick ass ... and a cool Sweet Emotion cover ... I'll put them in the Wolfmother category ... which is a compliment .. i'm gonna listen to more.

Re: Good Stoner Rock
Monster Magnet-Powertrip...loaded with great Stoner Rock.
Paranoid Social Club-Paranoid Social Club...search Amazon and check the reviews for a great description of the variety and comedy of the album.
Michael Hedges-Aerial Boundaries...not really Rock, but hands down one of the most gifted acoustic guitar players that walked the planet. Steve Vai called him the greatest guitar player he'd ever seen, and wanted to know where his third hand was.

Re: Good Stoner Rock
Oh, and one other suggestion that crossed my mind.
A band out of the UK called Evile. The definitely have a clear Metallica influence, but shift a few gears past them with a song called 'Armoured assault'....I would go as far as to say that song picks up where 'War Ensemble' from Slayer leaves off.

I absolutely love guitar sections of songs that blast off into space and take you for a ride, like the entire second half of Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb. These songs by The Junior Varsity give me a similar feeling... I'll come back and definitely toss a few more ideas out there, but if anyone has some good old classic rock-ish tunes that have solos that fly for a while, PLEASE reply and let me know. I'm always looking for more classic rock to listen to... Pink Floyd is all I can think about lately.
Also...
Smashing Pumpkins - Cherub Rock
Blue Oyster Cult - Cities on Flame With Rock 'N Roll
Rush - Anthem
Collective Soul - Run
I don't know how you guys feel about alternative rock, but if you want an entire album playing in the background while you're video gaming or passin a j around, My Chemical Romance's "The Black Parade" is surprisingly good. I don't care for the dude's voice while I'm sober so much and didn't really like the first two albums that much, but this one is way better... they have some really strong Queen vibes about them at certain parts. Sure, it's teenage-poppy at times, but c'mon.. don't we all still kind of like that at times??
Also... don't know where these fit, but these used to be great whole-album listens for me:
Brand New - The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me
30 Seconds to Mars - A Beautiful Lie
Bayside - Bayside
I'm one of those early-20s guys who will give pretty much anything resembling rock a listen.

Seriously, how can no one have mentioned Clutch? To me, they are THE definitive Stoner Rock band. I loved them before I started smoking weed. Check out their S/T, Elephant Riders and Blast Tyrant. Their new-ish one "From Beale Street To Oblivion" is pretty fantastic, too.

Seen them live supporting Motorhead, it was soo good man.
I think The Clash, The Ramones and Ozzy Osbourne (the less heavy stuff) are the best bands to listen to when hiiigh
