This isn't a cover but it's probably my favorite Jonny Cash song.

Stoner Buck$$: 1,030.46 | Re: Nothin But Covers Just a thought on "Hurt" and Johnny Cash ..
As a child (7 or 8 y.o. or so) ... one of my parents albums was by Johnny Cash, it had Folsom Prison Blues and I Walk the Line ... I played that over and over as it somehow resonated with me at that young age .. (along with my baby-sitter's Beatle Albums .. This was the middle 60s )
Also a couple of years ago, as i was compiling a CD to be played at my funeral ... I still have the playlist .... I chose "Hurt" by Johnny Cash .. not that it had any particular relavance to my life, but because it was by Cash and is an incredibly sad song reflective of the regrets in life ...
It's the time traveller in me ... my earliest memories are most powerful today ... and what's interesting is that my daughters, now young adults , now look back at their childhood memories with the same nostalgia ...
Thanks both of you for the contributions ...,
Donnie

Oh I love this thread...great idea...and I'm having such fun reminising
And I couldn't agree more with you about the powerful early memories.
I got to relive it alittle this Summer in Italy with my daughter. I showed
you the pic already...my night at an annual festival in a tiny village not far
from where we live. It's called Notte Bianco, simply White night...the shops
and bars and restaurants stay open all night and music in the piazza doesn't
stop til well after dawn. This year, to my absolute surprise and excitement
the music included a Siouxsie and the Banshees cover band - At 15 years of
age the woman was my idol!!!
Anyway we had a ball, my daughter loved them. The girl was fabulous...
all the moves down pat...and for a coupla hours, (coz I knew all the words) I was suddenly cool again lol
So here ya go, Helter Skelter by Paul McCartney performed by the
amazingly fabulous *Siouxsie and the Banshees* |

Notte Bianco sounds very cool ... I often wonder how many of these cultural festivals exist unknowingly to so many people ...
Lu, I realize now that this thread is far too broad for a rocker like you ... that was a really sweet cover of Helter Skelter ... thx
Here's a nice cover of Little Wing by Pearl Jam ..

We hadn't eaten at home coz we knew there would be food stalls everywhere. So, I was in this queue for capretto skewers (baby goat on a stick... for my daughter the raging unapologetic carnivore)...when I heard the intro to Spellbound ringing out in the piazza. Donnie I almost jumped for joy, I couldn't believe what I was hearing
Anywaysssssss, back to cover versions. Nice version of Little Wing and the perfect excuse for me to follow it up with this. The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, for those interested in the actual song...it's Fire by Jimi Hendrix...for everyone else....Ladies, Maryjanemama (!!!)....it's Anthony Keidis &Co in a sock
