O2 Arena London
We jumped on the underground at Canary Wharf to travel just the one stop to North Greenwich station....the night had barely started but the atmosphere was already electric.... carriages thronged with purple clad people singing and dancing and we hadnt even got to the arena yet.(formerly the millenium dome)
My cousin had warned me about bringing my camera. There were bag and body searches on the way in..they'd been at the Tuesday night gig and one of their crowd had ended up queuing for 3hours afterwards to collect her camera. So sorry folks - no pics - cept this crappy one of the stage that I managed to snap before he came on.....and even that nearly got me turfed out....
The place is HUGE and we seemed to be climbing stairs for an eternity...."how high up are these fecking seats????" Well let's just say before the show when they started doing the mexican wave I barely managed to lift my arse 2 inches off the chair, fearing for my life as I starred over this sheer cliff of 20,000 people.....the only ones higher than US were God and some grazing lamas.
But when the music started it was impossible to sit down...
Was he an arrogant, smirking, strutting peacock ??? Oh yeah!!! and he was absolutely brilliant...
"London you ain't ready for me!!!!" Obviously nobody told him the Dublin women were there in force..and we were well ready. He opened the night with '1999' and we danced like it was the end of the world...
My only complaint....he tried to play them all....and did this medley thing in the middle which pissed me right off - I don't wanna hear 1min of each hit...just play the fuckin song and drop a few...ya kno? But all in all it was a fabulous show, the band were awesome - Maceo Parker on sax!!!
But the Purple one.... boy can that man play guitar.
