Voices of angels...and jangly guitars
Harriet Wheeler and The Sundays I saw these first when I lived in the UK in the late 80’s. She had the voice of an angel and this face like a really cute pixie , gorgeous girl. I loved their sound, vaguely reminiscent of Elizabeth Fraser and The Cocteau Twins…who I’d adored forever. They released their first album in 1992 called ‘Reading, writing and arithmathic’, by which time I was already back living and working in Dublin. I heard it played for the first time before Prince came on stage in Páirc Uí Chaoimh, Corkand I was blown away. I cudn’t believe how fantastic it sounded. I always thought this group should’ve gone an awful lot further than they did. But after Harriet had children with the guitarist David Gavurin they took a break and never came back. Pity............. this is The Sundays ~ Joy

Re: Voices of angels...and jangly guitars
Elizabeth Fraser ….I think if I could have any voice, I would want hers above all others. To me this woman sounds like heaven should. The vocals of the Scottish band TheCocteauTwins . Most will know her as the female singer Massive Attackchose for their brilliant Teardrop….and a lot of other tracks too. Here she is singing Tim Buckley’s Song for a Siren....around the mid 80's sometime (judging by his hair...ouch lol )

and total teenage, stoned nostalgia for me Cocteau Twins ~ Aikea Guinea I soo want a decent mp3 of this track

...jangley guitars..for Oracle in chat...lol..that was fun x
no one in this world plays guitar like Johnny Marr, I love this guys sound.
He was taught to play by Billy Duffy outta the Cult btw. I spent my time
as a teen going to gigs in the S.F.X. hall....I saw theSmiths play 3 dates
in a row there in '84 or '85. Fantastic nights.
