At the theater ... DVD rental ... or an old favorite .. post what you've recently seen ...
------------------
On a tip from a good friend I rented the DVD "Stay", with Ewan McGregor, Ryan Gosling, and Naomi Watts ... This movie blew me away ... the type of movie that reveals itself mostly in the end ... so you find that you have to watch it again ...

I only went to the movies on Thursday. Three of us, my two sisters and I. It was the youngest ones turn to pick and she wanted to see 'Alphadog'. I hadn't heard anything about it, not the storyline or that it was a real life event...and either had she. She was only interested in one thing.......it starred Justin Timberlake.
This is no feel-good movie. I most definately wasn't prepared for it and I didn't find it an enjoyable film to watch....in the beginning I found the gangsta swearing and exaggerated posturing very hard to take....I cringed in my seat thinking, I'm definately too old for this kinda thing.
It got better tho, and I surprised myself by really liking JT in this....he's no Jack Nicholson, but he was convincing and one of the few likeable characters in the whole movie. There was some funny parts.. the 15yr old kidnap victim has a ball, plenty of access to weed and beer and he even loses his virginity in a bigtime male fantasy way...it was like a 'lads away together' holiday. But the awful tragedy that ensues is lacking in depth and kinda rang hollow with me. I did find it all a little disturbing, others may love it...it just wasn't my kinda thing.
I'd give it 5/10

I watched 4 movies yesterday as I am layed up on the couch with the flu.
Empire strikes back, Slither, Fast and the Furious : Tokyo drift, and Benchwarmers.
Of the four, the Fast and the Furious was the best and now my favorite of the three movies.
I love Japan and cannot wait to visit there some day.
i watched the whole star wars trilogy (original ones) last night at work
im a bit of a star wars fanatic
peace

I rented Children of Men last night ... The movie has an interesting premise ... Set in 20 years in the future where females are no longer fertile, and no child has been born in 18 years ... Poor countries have self-destructed and richer countries are overrun by massive refugee immigration .. and the military attempts to control them ...
The plot centers around the discovery of a pregnant woman .... and her attempted transport to safety by peace activists .... where the hope the survival of civilization is implied ....
I enjoyed the movie, it is more thoughtful than entertaining, and has real plausibility given our present times ... although the film does get a little bogged down in all of the chaos ... while the 60's/70's music still being played in the year 2027 is a subtle surprise ..
I'll give it an 8/10, although I would imagine that this film is not for everyone.
