Re: Movies re-made!

damn i know fuckin loads of movies that have been re-made, i just can't think of any (i grew up in a video rental store)...

ooo wait, dawn of the dead... awesome movie, but i think they made a mistake in giving the zombies the ability to learn in the re-make, and they could run like hell at some points... zombies aint supposed to run... but the visual effects were alot better and the gore just seemed so realistic at times.

David Cronenberg's remake of 'The Fly.' As much as I love Vincent Price, I just thought the 1986 version was better.

Dude i think the made-for-tv-movie version of Stephen King's The Shining is crazy style scary ... the scene with the lady in the bathtub is crucial especially when your like 4 i couldnt use the bathroom by myself for like a year

Re: Movies re-made!

Not many remakes stand out as better than original ...

Cape Fear comes to mind ... and definitely Scarface ..

Re: Movies re-made!

i would definetly say the newer dawn of the dead is better than the original. but the biker scene in the older version is one of the funnyest things ive seen in a long time. and as for shaun of the dead well... one word .... leauge-of-its-own!

Yeah, I was 6 when that came out, and it was pretty freaky. I think I fared pretty well, though. :P

While I was pleasantly surprised by how good the Dawn of the Dead remake was, I can't say that it's better than the original. For one thing, they broke one of the cardinal rules of zombiedom: zombies don't run. I mean, it defeats the whole purpose: the zombies are scary because it doesn't matter that they're slow -- there's so many of them that they're bound to get you anyway. It's that never-ending sea of zombies that make them great.

But I did definitely like the remake, and I even have it on DVD.

To go a bit older-school, how about Hitchcock's 'Man Who Knew Too Much'? It's one of my favourite Jimmy Stewart movies, and really outdid the original. Not many people have been able to pull off remaking their own movies, but that one stands out as a definite exception.

i remember the newer one.... that bit where the guys arms get bitten off by the dead dudes stomach came as a bit off a shock.... and they actually used an armless guy for the part too
