Yeah, I was 6 when that came out, and it was pretty freaky. I think I fared pretty well, though. :P

While I was pleasantly surprised by how good the Dawn of the Dead remake was, I can't say that it's better than the original. For one thing, they broke one of the cardinal rules of zombiedom:
zombies don't run. I mean, it defeats the whole purpose: the zombies are scary because it doesn't matter that they're slow -- there's so many of them that they're bound to get you anyway. It's that never-ending sea of zombies that make them great.
But I did definitely like the remake, and I even have it on DVD.
To go a bit older-school, how about Hitchcock's 'Man Who Knew Too Much'? It's one of my favourite Jimmy Stewart movies, and really outdid the original. Not many people have been able to pull off remaking their own movies, but that one stands out as a definite exception.
