Stoner Buck$$: 2,520.42 My Mood : | Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince Just saw the latest harry potter friday, and was mega high. movies high is one of the best combos ever. im a self proclaimed HP fanatic, well the books im obsessed with...the movies can't even compete but i like seeing the directors take on things anyway liked this new one alot! everyones growing up so quick, and the books are super long so they have to cut a bunch of stuff out which sucks but ah well. i read the 6th book forever ago so i forgot lots of it which was probably good bc i was better able to enjoy the movie and not nit pick things that were different from the book. liked this director, the movie seemed to come from a more humorous standpoint, the way the characters moved, little things they said. different scenes in the movie. it was good and offset the heavier stuff, which couldve been much more intense i think but meh, little kids watch it and parents get all cranky blah blah blah. heard they're splitting the last book into 2 movies? wonder how that'll go. opinions?

I'm actually excited they're splitting the last book into two movies, it emans they can include more. In my opinion they should have done this for ALL the movies because most of the information throughout the books is compiling for the end, some of the stuff in the movies seems kind of loose ended if you don't know the books.
I havent seen the movie yet, i want to go either tomarrow or wednesday.

I saw the new HP movie. It was pretty sweet. It's been a long time since I've read the 6th book, so that helped me to not care too much about the movie. I hate it when people complain the movie is different. Of course it's different! Copyright laws dictate that if you transfer a story from one media (i.e. a book) to another (i.e. a movie) you have to make changes. I don't make up the rules. It sucks 'cause I would love to see the movie exactly the way the book has it, but eh. Whichever. I still really liked it.
On a side note, I hope they do make the last book into 2 movies. There is a whole lot of craziness going on to cover, not enough craziness for one book. So I think that will help the story telling better for the movie.
Or they could make one incredibly long movie, like them there Lord of the Rings movies where you have to pee so bad at the end of the movie you can hardly get up.

I haven't seen it yet, but I've heard some mixed reviews.
I've been pretty disappointed, though, with all of the Harry Potter movies thus far. Not because they didn't include enough, just because the quality wasn't the same. I hope this is better. And I'm glad they're splitting up the last book, I think that'll help.

I saw the movie. It was ok. I am more into the books than the movies though. I would have liked to see some of the stuff more true to the book but that is Hollywood
I am glad they are making the last book into 2 movies. I was wondering how they were going to do it. There is so much in the last book that it would take a 7 hour movie to do it justice.
I still think they missed a great opportunity to show a drunk house elf LOL

here is our review - Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince | The Haute Critique
I liked it enough, but I thought that as a whole it was a kind of a mess.
That said, I thought that the liquid luck bit was awesome. Did anyon else think that liquid luck was like getting wicked high?
The other bit was luna lovegood. OMG! everything she did was hilarious. And when she shows up with the lion head on, I almost snickered out my ginormous coke.

I wanna go to Hogwarts too Mean!! Love the books and like you I like seeing the directors take on things in the movies. I also like seeing the characters grow up, and seeing those kids become better actors. As they do, the characters in the movies gain so much depth.

I love the books so much! I'm re-reading them for a 3rd time. Just finished the 5th book (my favorite one). It just keeps getting better every time!

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is an intoxicating potion of teenage hormones and evil spirits. Both are raging. If Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is a roller coaster, it's the tiny train meant for only the very youngest kids, the one that seems to go round and round forever without really ever picking up any pace.
Sure we don't have much time for Hagrid, Tom Riddle's memories, or a Half-Blood Prince, but the heavy transitional content does no harm to the popularity of the series, the essentials of which are the enduring emotional attachments to the book and the visual elegance of what's seen on screen.
