A few weeks ago I finally watched the John Cusack film
High Fidelity after many years of procrastination. The film was based on a novel by prolific author Nick Hornby and was brilliantly produced. It's a perfect movie to watch while stoned and is a celebration of music cultureas my favorite film critic Roger Ebert stated in his 2000 review, it shows how music is the soundtrack of our lives.
The title of the novel was an intentional double entendre. High fidelity is music term for high quality and the story revolves around commitment (fidelity). But while watching the film, totally baked mind you, I couldn't help but gleefully wonder if "high" had a third meaning and was snickering reference to getting baked (which of course is so deeply ingrained into music culture).
Discuss.
