yay! first to post on Star Trek!!!
i'm a big fan of this franchise, and i'm tryin not to give too much away, but this was meant to b a prequel to the original show, and it was a great movie, lots of action, lots of humor, and not too much high tech stuff for us non techies...
starting with capt Kirk's background, how all of the original cast was asembled into the Enterprise's crew, some relationships which i thought were, um, matched up differently than i expected...
i'm sure the trekkies will hve more to say about it, but the room was almost at capacity for the first showing of the day, and at the end, the crowd was clapping n cheering the movie

i saw it on thursday night, and i am not a fan of star trek at all! i went with my roommate who is a big fan, but i did enjoy the movie. It was really good, and not as boring as I originally expected!  | |

I just saw this today and it is so good! I'm only 20 so I never watched the original series but was semi familiar with it because of my dad. He is a huge trekie. I went to see it with him and he really liked it too. It is non stop action from the first scene and was pretty funny too. I strongly recommend everyone go see it.

Captain Kirk's fictional hometown is just 15 minutes south of here, the residents of Riverside, Iowa got a 5-star treatment to see the premier of the movie, they were drivin via limousine to the Sycamore12 Theaters in Iowa City to see the movie. Riverside is real famous for being Kirk's hometown, every year they have a huge celebration known as Trek Fest its awesome i go almost every year.

seen a cpl of trailers for this film, looks really good
simon pegg/scotty apparently does a reasonable scottish accent from wat iv read in the papers over here..
ill buy it wen it reaches dvd... i liked most of the spin off series..next gen was my fav..but of course the original stands out ... pity they didnt get shatner in the film.. liked him in the series

I'm trying to start a blog where we give reviews from the high point of view (i.e. the reviewers have to be high when they watch the movie)

Fantastic Movie. It is pretty damn satisfying. Not a lot of movies are.

OK I can see that im missing out, so will be off to watch it at some point this week as im off work, but judging from what you fine ppl have said I'm gonna enjoy it, i have watched all the various series and as well as NG i also enjoyed DS9 (esp the war against the founders/jem hadar) i just need to get beemed up b4 i go, SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEEEET

That High Movie Review idea is great! I've been trying to start a web show for a while now, but never could come up with a good concept (i already have all the equipment (HD cameras, computers, green screen, etc.)). This idea seems perfect, I just wish i had thought of it first
