| Sherriff?s Office Nets $3 Million Marijuana Bust BIRMINGHAM, Ala -- The Sheriff's Office record setting Highway Safety Unit struck again Monday by intercepting 1600 pounds of marijuana with a street value of over $3 million that was destined for Atlanta, Georgia.
The tractor trailer rig was located east bound on I-20 near Leeds around lunch time Monday.
The Marijuana was concealed between a load of camping gear and patio furniture in the trailer of the truck.
The two occupants were arrested for Trafficking Marijuana and are being held without bond.
The suspects were identified as 29-year-old Antwan Steed, of Lithonia, Georgia and 33-year-old Harold Osgood, of Atlanta, Georgia.
Atlanta is believed to be a major hub of marijuana trafficking and it is most likely some of this marijuana was destined back for sale on the streets of Birmingham.
