Ive been smoking pot 3-5times a week for almost a year now and im Very interested in all the psychadelics. Ive never tried shrooms for the sole reason that noone sells them where Im located. Ive read multiple growing guides and did a good amount of research, but id just like someone to tell me straight forward, what equipment I need to start! I only want to grow enough for me and my friends (about 5 people) and it seems each guide adds something different. Im a beginner looking for an easy grow tactic, w/o buying a kit. help would be great! thanks! | |

Follow that tek and you will find success. The following series of videos outlines approximately the same method, with a better explanation of how to create a shotgun type fruiting chamber. Mushroom cultivation DVD - Let's Grow Mushrooms
And remember, when if comes time to purchase your spore syringe, support stoner forums sponsors MAGIC MUSHROOM SPORES - Syringes $10.00
A good resource is Shroomery - Magic Mushrooms (Shrooms) Demystified, people there can help you with any problem you could possibly have if searching the site doesnt answer any question you could come up with.

Thanks! But if you dont use all of a syringe, how do you store it?

pop it back in the fridge. the syringes can last a few years in the fridge. but they are so cheap id just use as much as you want without really going overboard. remember when you inoculate your mix or whatever you use the less moisture, and other outside contams you introduce the better, but the more spores the faster the mycellium grows.

wow great! that helps. One more question i couldnt find elsewhere, is the Pressure cooker a Must? I can get one but its a good amount of money, im only using 3 or 4 jars, is there a cheaper way to sterilize them?

Yes, i believe the tek i linked you to and possibly the video outline boiling the jars. Basically, you just place something in the bottom of a large pot(some sort of spacer to keep the jars off of the metal at the bottom so they dont get to hot and crack, can use anything from a rag to metal jar lids to crushed soda cans) and place your jars on top of the spacer. Fill the pot with water up to about the bottom of the jars and boil with the lid on for about an hour. When you do this you want to put tape over your inoculation holes and tin foil over the tops of your jars to keep water from getting into the jars and messing up your water/verm/brf ratio.
If you use the rag, your going to need to put water a bit higher than the bottom, up to about the middle of the jar. You also may need to add water periodically during the boiling process to make sure things don't dry out.

i would DEF get a pressure cooker. the boiling is gonna probably lead to frustration and too much moisture most of the time. a pressure cooker allows for full sterilization all the way through your jar. or better yet, for a sort of guarantee order your substrate and jars from a reputable place. its worth it. otherwise it will take a while to get those babies to pop out with all the characteristics you want and be strong. people use rice, honey and all sorts of other things for the mycellium to grow in. and the more proteins and other stuff thats good for the shrooms psylicibin production thats included in the growing medium the better.

Not to argue with results like that big ole fucker JDR just showed off, but I have had 0% contamination from the boiling method. Also, expert opinions around the shroomery say do it yourself is better where substrate prep is concerned. I have heard many reports of people getting bad substrate from vendors(usually the problem is moisture related).
The best way to get good results, it to follow the tek's TO THE LETTER. Dont improvise if you dont really know what your doing. I have seen people get absolutely AMAZING results using just the PF tek i linked you to.
But on a side note, what type of substrate was that big fucker grown on?

Great! I will! Ive already began buying the materials for the substrate.
Also, I just ordered a 12cc syringe of B+ from Microtech, is this a good company to buy from?
EDIT: Sorry, i didnt realize that I found out about Microtech from Your post! haha.

halffoot is pretty much correct on all of it. you have to be very careful and prepare like a mofo. although if you find a good company, with some decent product that can supply you with guarantees then there is really no issues with anything.
I just recently found some archived stuff i stashed away. and i think i tossed alot of stuff on my computer out after i got it back from the raid last year. ive been looking for a lot of info so i could share it. ive been told multiple times my mushies at One Gram to 1.5 Grams a dose dry have the power of most peoples and natures full 1/8 doses. only tried one other persons and enjoyed that stash alot. my stash it seemed were too powerful for a newb tripper like myself. i experienced ego loss with all but one travel i took with my stash. was sometimes lil too much for a newb traveler like myself. ive got a lot to learn about controlling ones mind and settling in to learn what it is you are there to learn. to me a trip is a learning experience and a gift. not to get all hippy on yall, but i really think a trip is an insight to your journey in life, and not necessarily a recreational tool. sadly i have stopped growing everything. but i would really like to start again someday soon. i found the process to be strangely rewarding and fruitful in a completley different way than gowing the green. when you are ready to fruit, they come so fast and its such a delicate process, unlike the small amount of error and amout of time it takes to flower your buds. both are great because its your work that goes into them and the reward is very personal and spiritual.
anyway, man i rambled on there.
that baby and more like it were Ecuador (although results from strains rarely matters with shrooms like it does with pot except for one mushy strain) And i used a mix of cocoa beans, rice, peanut meal, honey, calcium carbonate & sulfate. along with a few other combinations. i inoculated the jar and the mycellium that coloinzed was broken up into chunks and placed into a cake type TEK and then in a fruiting chamber, where i covered (caked) the top of the chunks with a mixture of vermiculite and coco coir. the chunks then colonized the caked with a light layer of mycellium, and thats when you hit the chamber with light. and everything i learned, i learned from the shroomery.

Thank you!
but must you use half pint jars? I bought 3 full pint jars (Very high quality, 5$ each) with an airtight rubber seal and a lift clamp, all glass. (using a fine drill bit to make holes). I plan to just use 1.5 - 2cc's instead of only one for innoculation. I dont see why you wouldnt be able to, i was just curious if theres something I dont fully understand, and if it does work perfectly, would I get a greater yeild?
(BTW it was an accident that I bought 1pints)

And if not, could I simply fill the jar up with substrate halfway?

From what i understand, half pint jars are used for the PF tek because they colonize more quickly and are less likely to stall out on you. I'm not sure about just using less substrate, but its probably at least worth a shot. Maybe mix your jars, somethat you fill all the way, and some that you fill halfway.
Theoretically though, if it did fully colonize, larger jar = more substrate = more mushrooms.

Great, thanks! Ill try it out. I'm trying the 2 extremes because I don't have the balls to enter the container store. 3 one pint jars, and a 1.1oz plastic jar already sterilized, mainly an experiment to see if the plastic would be a bitch, but i didnt have any problems. I boiled it ontop of jar lids for 25min. Since its so small I didnt want to dry it out. So ill innoculate that little thing tonight once it cools down (i assume I dont have to wait a whole day since its so very small and it should cool off much faster) ill wait about 8hrs. Im too fucking excited lmk if im doing anything retarded please!
Substrate:
One tablespoon of BRF
One and a half Tablespoons of water
Two tablespoons of fairly course Verm not including another to top it off.
Haha! if im really lucky ill get a gram.
