So Im going to be using a 1000 watt hps light.
I need to know about how much it will add to my electric bill.

I live in Los Angeles around the 90013 area code.
Im not sure who my electric provider is.
I tried to google it but got nowhere.

I know the rough estimate was 12/12 1k light will add about 20-30 a month but i think it might be different here.

I wanna know for sure

Unless you're using an auto flower strain, you'll want to consider the 18/6 part as well. More so than the cost of electric, I would worry about the heat. Unless you've got that planned out already.

Heat isnt a problem, and for veg we have florescents lights that wont take too much electricity. But the thing is depending how much itll cost for me too do 12/12 with a 1k light i might be able to get a 1k mh light for veg also.

Im just scared cuz i dont wanna spike the bill up by like four fold.
I gotta pay for that...

If someone knows about or know where i can find info about the cost of electricity in los angeles. would be very helpful...sadly google got me running in circles and telling me too change all my bulbs to compact florescents...

Look at your last power bill. You're billed by the KWH or kilowatt hour, that's 1000 watts an hour, or however much of that you use, do a little math and you'll know how much you're using in a set amount of time. I can tell you though that a 1000W hps on for 12/12 doesn't increase your electric bill that much.

here is the formula I use. (btw I'm paying more than .10/hr)

Rate you pay per kilowatt hour x hrs per day x (light watts/1000) x 30 days= $ per 30 day period

.10 per kwh
12 hrs per day
1000 watt light

.10 x 12 x 1 x 30 = $36 every 30 days

on a 400 watt light

.10 x 12 x .4 x 30= $14.40 every 30 days
