Hey sup everybody?

I've been using LEDs for a while now and I don't see a lot of info out there, so I thought I'd share some of mine.

I use 10mm .4 watt LEDs... Red, Blue and UV. I power them with a Radio Shack 13.8v 25amp power supply.

I use this website's LED array diagram wizard to design them. LED series parallel array wizard

I use on-wall wire covers and drill/dremel 10mm holes 1 inch apart. I cover it in mylar and drop in the LEDs. I like to make bars instead of panels, so I can limit the amount of Red light my plants get. And when I flower I add twice as many UV bars as I have Red/Blue, but only when I flower.

Have you tried growing with the led's? If so how did it turn out and how much total watts?

No, you don't want those. That's far too much light in far too small a footprint. You want the .4 watt 10mm LEDs. That's a lot of light you can spread around...

I've seen lots of those 3-5 watt LEDs used in DIY grows. You have to move the light back so far to get decent coverage that you lose the benifits of LEDs. At that point, you might as well be using HIDs.

They turn out fine. I add UVA to mine, so your mileage my vary w/o it... but over all, the buds are just as resinous and tight.

umm you sound so sure of your self, I have seen the results of using leds
2 watss and above and they kick ass!
check out the T1 smart lamp or the Procyon they kick but!
sNs Stealth crew over at cannabis.com have 4 grows under thier belt with the procyon

I didn't say the won't work, I'm saying they're overkill. And you lose a lot of the benifits of LEDs when you put them in a tightly packed array. You get a bigger bang for your buck if you spread them out. The ~150k mcd .4 watt 10mm LEDs are nice balance between power and area...

I have a question for ya. Are you using any other light except those few leds?

I have 2 extra bars of UVA LEDs in there now, but that's it. I will add probably 4-6 more as it flowers... I'll probably have 5-10watts of UVA in there depending on how motivated I get by the time I harvest...
