Don't have much room to spread out the light... just looking to add more light to the area. and I thought I read that it was good to have both (hps, mh) light sources during flowering..adds more weight

let's phrase it this way... have a hood with dual sockets... both are 400 a piece. would you run 2 HPS bulbs or 1 HPS & 1 MH

one of each. it will keep the nodespacing tighter so the plant stays a little shorter/bushier and thus allow you to get more light to the secondary buds(possibly more nodes/budsites), increasing the potency of the overall plant.

For budding you want more red light, so go with dual HPS.

If you just want a well-balanced plant, one MH and one HPS will do. Can your ballast handle both types of bulbs, though?
