Ok After debating for around a year and a half I came to the conclusion that I will make my room a 5x5..5 plants deep 5 plants long...My question is how many (double 48") fluros would I need to keep my lighting adequate?

That's just too many plants for fluorescent. 25 Plants , ya? You'll definitely need HPS and MH in there. A huge amount of ventilation too. I guess it could be done, you would just have to line the inside of the area with lamps, completely. There is an awesome lighting guide here. Check it out.

Yes I will be doing 25 plants...If I do switch over to MH and HPS what would be necessary to sustain that? 1000w hps or a 600? Also would I need a carbon filter or would a ozone generator work?

for 25 plants just four 4-bulb 48" T5 fluorescent systems would do the job. And you can get them pretty compact. HTG Supply has them.

I wouldn't think you would get the same density out of the plants with fluorescent lighting as you would with HID set ups. What is the wattage of the tubes you're mentioning?

I dont want to bash fluoros because they definitely have their uses, like rooting clones and seedlings. They are also good for small spaces because they let off very little heat but if you want dense nugs you really need to get a HPS or even a MH. Those new High Output T5's are nice but they just seem too expensive to me, you can get yourself a 150w ready to grow HPS for $70 plus whatever it is for shipping from HTG Supply. Im lucky I live down the street from HTG so Im not sure what the shipping costs are. Those 150's are great too because the ballast is separate with a 10ft cord so you can keep the heat away from your ladies if you place it in a strategic place. I see all these people buying 20 CFL's and I just dont understand it, all the moving the bulbs around has to be a pain in the ass. The 250w version is like $120 and Im not sure what the 400w is but these are the ones HTG make themselves with all new parts.

Thats just my 2 cents though, take it for what its worth.
