Stoner Buck$$: 362.81 | HELP PLEASE!?!?!?!
Does anyone know where I can get some good high pressure sodium lights not on the internet? I don't have a credit card to be spending money on the net so I need to know stores that have them. I need something no longer than 1 ft. All the lights I'm finding are huge! Somebody please help me with this!

If it has to be local for you, I would suggest a big box store in your area. Home Depot, Lowes, etc. Look for HPS yard/security lighting. It won't be the ideal spectrum of light, but it will do the job. Usually they're available in 70 Watt all the way up to a couple hundred Watt. Make sure you look for a 115/120 Volt unit.

Thanks I'll be sure to check that out. I have both a Home Depot and a Lowes near my house so it would be very nice if they have what I need! Thanks again!

No problem. Also, remember that HID (High Intensity Discharge) lighting produces quite a bit of heat, you'll have to manage that as well.

Ok. The area I'm trying to grow in is maybe a little smaller than a small closet so would I want to avoid those types of lights?

How big of a closet? Is there a way for you to move air into and out of the closet? A small fan can do a pretty good job of keeping an area cool. There has to be a way for the air to circulate from a cooler area. Fluorescent lighting is a good way to go if you can't ventilate the area.

Uhhhhh well its probably only about 4 ft tall and maybe 2.5 feet wide. I'm not looking to grow real big marijuana, just a little plant for fun, but I want the stuff to be good too if at all possible so I can smoke it lol. I'm sure I could just use some power tools to get some holes in the side of the box to get ventilation going. Would that mess with any lighting cycle though since light can get through the holes? Or should I just put a fan in there with no holes at all to circulate the air?

If you're not shy about cutting holes, it's easy enough to make a light trap. A 2" black PVC elbow, pointed down will work as a decent one. It allows the air in but because it's facing down it won't let in light. If you do punch holes for ventilation, remember that the penetrations should be as opposite as possible in the area. Inlet on the lower left, outlet on the upper right, for example. This will prevent the air from simply zooming in and then out, it forces the air across the area.

Yeah that PVC idea's pretty good! So once I have my lights and ventilation, how long should I leave the lights on per day? Do you have any personal specifications that you feel work best?
