I have a few compact florescent lights but, i have no idea where to get a portable socket so i can just hook it up to a an extension cord. Do they make these? What are my alternatives? I'm currently using two 15W florescent work lights.

If you've got a lights, ceramic bases can be had for cheap at most hardware stores. The white ones you'd see in a shed or other place. If you're going to use these they will mount on a octagon junction box, which can also be had for very cheap. Please ground all your wiring and good luck!

As little as One Amp can be lethal. It is highly unlikely but still possible. I've passed huge amounts of current through my body in various directions (accidentally) and still am here to talk about it, just be careful. I've been rapidly set down by 240V 50Amp service working on a commercial smoker, it knocked me unconscious for about 20 seconds and my upper body was semi-numb for several minutes afterward. It makes you very tired from the involuntary muscle contractions.
