Do you guys ever worry about burning the 1k and the energy company alerting LEO? just wondering because I am deciding on what to buy still.

You might look into the police reports in your area and see how common/frequent the busts are. Also, 1Kw isn't that much. A new plasma and a new computer could suck down more than that. If questioned there are a number of things you can claim. Is it cool where you are? One, just ONE little portable electric heater usually sucks down between 600-1200 Watts. I think it's the cycle of power usage that's more likely to bite you in the ass. I would investigate your local area though and see if there is a precedent. . .

I read something last night that spooked me, it was on a site recommending that anything over 500w would draw attention.......I believe it was one of the seed banks. That's what I thought...most of media room stuff I have is over 1000w per channel. What I was worried about is a window unit AC in conjunction with lights and exhaust.

mmm highly doubt it. especially in my area where power companys pretty much stayed tight liped about anything to do with irregularities considering they are more worried about getting their money from the over usage of power coming from your grow room. They tend to want to keep customers.

The only reason you would need to worry about it if the police were already investigating you. Then, in a attempt to get as much information as possible for a search warrant, they might ask the electric company for your usage.

The electric company has way to many users to keep track of that stuff on an individual basis...so don't give the cops a reason to look into and you will be fine.

If you're power consumption is already relatively high, I would worry less. Time the lighting to when the rest of you power usage drops, that way the bill is more consistent, few spikes.

so in other words.....keep your mouth shut and you should be good. Telling your friends is the number one way a person gets busted. Not because of a narc, but their own stupidity

I'll probably start with a 400w conversion system. HTG prices are off the hook for that. Can't beat 160.00. The last time I grew they were like 300 bucks for a cheap HPS, I can't get over the good prices that guy has.
